Chapter 4 Finlay High School

  • MIDNIGHT PACK
  • FINLAY HIGH SCHOOL
  • Finlay High School served as one of Jovy Finlay’s nightmares. They had just resumed a new session and truth be told Jovy doesn't miss it one bit. It might seem like a coincidence that the school was the same as her surname, however it was exactly named after her father. Tommy Finlay has made great impact in every institution concerning Midnight Pack due to his philanthropic act. In the pack’s bid to appreciate his help over the years, the high school had been named after him.
  • One would think Jovy would be the most popular kid since her father practically owned half of the school, unfortunately she was the exact opposite, unpopular and tagged as the social stigma of the school. It wasn't surprising since everyone at Midnight pack had a judgmental attitude towards whoever they feel was different from the rest of them. Jovy decided to be the most odd amongst them, as high as the population is only her stood out as the weakest of them all.
  • No one wanted to be friends with a weak wolf who couldn't save herself in times of trouble let to talk of someone else. Amelia on the other hand who had no relation with her father, is the most popular pupil in the whole school. She had her nose in every activities in the school, to cap it all Jovy wondered how Ava was able to convince Tommy to do things in her daughter’s favor. Amelia uses the most expensive car in the whole school—A Bentley. It drove everyone nuts in school but it made her popular and everyone wants to be friends with her.
  • It was surprising to Jovy that Amelia had taken their father's car for a ride and ended up bashing it. Her car even though not as expensive as the Rolls Royce carried enough weight for someone her age and status. Jovy on the other hand drives an old Audi model that visits the repair home almost every week that the guts to complain to her father always stuck in her throat. The memories of her home and this school makes her shiver and goosebumps would always form the moment she stepped in.
  • When she was in middle school it was always one thing or the other and she would get in trouble unintentionally. It was either someone soaked her books in water and leave them dripping and tearing out in her locker, or her hair gets tied to something strange while she dozed off. Too many things she wished never to remember but it was all ingrained in her memory.
  • Jovy took a deep breath, hoping this new senior year would be different. Taking a step into the school hallway, she felt a not so light tap on her back making her feel a wave of pain in her back.
  • "Hey yo mama!" Alice Clark screamed out in excitement.
  • Lost in her thoughts, Jovy had almost forgotten she has a best friend whom despite her popularity had decided to pick someone as weak and pathetic as her as a friend. When they had first began hanging out together, Jovy had heard talks of her being used as a pawn by Alice. They had met in her last year during middle school when she had been ganged up against by some girls in class. Alice had just recently arrived Midnight pack from Mystic Shadows Fortress where her maternal grandmother lives. She was super weird, wild, brilliant and crazy. And also both of her parents are Thetas at the pack’s infirmary. They lived quite large.
  • Alice's presence didn't need to be announced because her personality made enough noise for her. She had proven to be a good friend over the years and always stood by Jovy, making it hard for anyone to bully her. If you would need to get to Jovy then you would have Alice to contend with.
  • Alice decided to drag her best friend’s arm. “Me and my Twinem!”
  • "Damn it Alice! Do you intend to cut out my arm?" Jovy whined.
  • Alice grinned before pulling Jovy to herself in a neck stiffing hug. "Hello to you my best friend, thanks for professing your unending love to me." She wheezed.
  • Jovy tried to stifle back a painful growl. "I never said any of that to you." She forced a smile on her face.
  • Alice pulled away from the embrace. "Listen my best friend, action speaks louder than words.” She said in a melodious tone. Alice has always been super dramatic with her sing words into song habit that always made it seem like she was auditioning for a role play.
  • "Stop messing with me, you fallen song goddess!" Jovy laughed.
  • "How is that witch doing?"
  • Jovy sighed, wishing she could tell her friend what exactly transpired this morning. But knowing how Alice could be, she would drag Amelia by the hair and beat the hell out of her.
  • "She is good." She mumbled.
  • Alice squinted her eyes. "You are lying to me?” She arched her eyebrows.
  • Jovy shot out her eyes in shock. “Hell no, why would I lie to you?”
  • Alice observed her best friend for a while before a wide smile grazed her lips. "You better not lie to me because I will do a great job at beating up your ass." Looking around the hall, she rested her head on the locker and scanned each person as they came in and at the same time responding to their greetings. “Haven’t you noticed some fine looking wolves this new session?"
  • Jovy shook her head, trying not to mind her. "I just resumed so I don’t know what you are talking about. I don’t see anyone.”
  • Alice playfully slapped her shoulder and it made Jovy wince in pain. “Stop lying best friend! I can smell your wetness.” She giggled.
  • "Ewww, speak for yourself." Jovy rolled her eyes.
  • Alice tried to tickle her best friend but her eyes caught sight of a figure that appeared in the hallway. “And the devil incarnate walks in."
  • "Who?" Jovy asked with a confused look on her face as she followed Alice's gaze. Her smile faltered at the sight of Amelia and the rest of her egoistic she wolves friends who had nothing else to do but lap after her like some lost puppies. "Just ignore her please, Alice.” She said.
  • "If only she doesn't mess with me first." Alice responded, obviously not making promises.
  • "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Amelia taunted, her voice ringing all through the hall.
  • "I told you." Alice said to Jovy.
  • "The weak wolf and the overtly loud one." One of Amelia's lap dog said.
  • "You better shut that mouth of yours or I do so for you." Alice warned. They all turned away their faces knowing she would keep true to her promise.
  • Amelia let out a snooty laugh. "I hope you are healing nicely though." She said tilting her heads towards Jovy.
  • "Go on, move on. Say something daring.” Alice told her, matching her stare and daring her to say something.
  • Jovy was always amused at how hard Amelia always try to stand against Alice. Everyone knows she never backs out on her words and doesn't fear detention. No one can mess with Alice Clark because she controls half of the school with her audacious attitude. It was always a moment of pride whenever Jovy witnessed her friend dealing with the bullies.
  • Flicking her tongue, Amelia walked away with a flip of her hair and her puppies threaded along too.
  • "Do you mind explaining the shit she just said?" Alice glared but Jovy didn’t say anything. She tapped her feet furiously on the marble floor with her hands folded against her chest in expectation.
  • "I don't know what you are talking about." Jovy turned away swiftly to her locker and buried her face in it. She pretended to look for something that isn’t missing.
  • "I thought we agreed not to hide anything from each other anymore." Alice sounded angry.
  • Jovy heaved a sigh. "Only if you promise to not go after her."
  • "I can only promise if I can take the blow she threw at you." Alice countered.
  • Jovy pulled her head out of the drawer and shut her eyes in frustration. “Please Alice.”
  • "Stop doing that Jovy, stop trying to cover up for this people!”
  • "I am not covering up for them. I just...I just...” She paused. Jovy was tearing up now. “I just want to avoid trouble." She had tried to hold it back all morning but Alice’s insistence kept messing with her.
  • "Oh my goodness. I am sorry, Jovy." Alice pouted as she pulled her into a comforting hug.
