Chapter 49 Mind Linking Adventures

• The next two weeks passed by in a blur. Jordan was preoccupied with finding out more about my powers and the coming war. He had been keeping everyone updated with the mind link and Carter or Seth would pass on info he found. I saw less of him. I knew he was also working his nightclub. Damien and I had been on awkward terms ever since he apologized to me. I wanted to forgive him, and I knew eventually I would, but I am also not won over easily. Especially after being treated like crap by him. Mate or not, I deserve respect. I planned on letting him wallow in his pity, though I could tell from the way he looked at me that his patience was wearing thin. If he demanded my submission, he was damn well going to work for it. I was standing by what I said. I was done trying. Damien occupied himself with his nightclub when he saw I was not giving him the attention he was asking for, and I admit, it did eat at my heart a bit. Carter focused on running the restaurant, and Seth focused on the pack. With over five-hundred members to take care of, I went with him to meet many of the members, and I was amazed at how simple their lives were. You could look at them and not even realize they were wolves. Even the kids.
• In my meeting with the families, I learned much more about the wolf community. Some of them have not found their mates and co-live together as roommates. Some were abused in their early days and were taken in under the pack. I even learned that Lamonte and his mate were born in this pack as well. I was told he had a daughter that would be my age by now. I wanted to reach out to her, wondering if she knew her father was gone. When I tried to inquire for more information about her from Carter or Seth, they always changed the topic, stating the daughter had been through a lot, and this news could possibly break her. I could understand it, but at the same time, she has the right to know. I decided I would find out when I had the time.
