Chapter 36

  • Chelsea sat at her desk, her mind buzzing with worry and confusion after her conversation with Kara. She had just gotten off the phone with her best friend, who had briefed her on everything that had transpired the previous night. Kara's reassurance that the police were nearby did little to ease Chelsea's nerves.
  • Leaning back in her chair, Chelsea sighed heavily, her thoughts consumed by the events of the night before. She couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the pit of her stomach. It didn't make sense to her that the supposed burglar had broken into Kara's apartment and yet hadn't stolen anything. It left her feeling even more unsettled and confused.
  • Unable to focus on her work, Chelsea glanced at the clock on her desk, willing her hands to move faster so she could go to Liam's office. She needed to talk to him, to find out if he had heard anything about how the masked man died. On their way to the office, the police called and informed Liam that the man was found dead in his car on a beach. They're still investigating his death.
