Chapter 9 Black Rabbit
- The Black Rabbit had him cornered. And they were coming for him.
- Suddenly, the ground beneath him gave way. He tumbled down the cliff face, the wind whipping at his face, the salt spray stinging his eyes. He felt a surge of panic, a primal fear that threatened to consume him.
- As he fell, his mind raced. Images flashed before his eyes, memories of his father, his stern face, his unwavering gaze. Memories of his father's death, the cold steel of the gun, the blood staining the pavement. Memories of his mother, her gentle touch, her warm embrace, her loving eyes. He remembered the day his father was killed. The Black Rabbit had struck then, too. They had taken his father, his protector, his mentor. And now, they were coming for him.
- He felt a sharp pang of guilt. He had failed to protect his father. He had failed to avenge his death. And now, he was about to fail his brother, too.
- The water rushed up to meet him, swallowing him whole. He felt a sharp jolt as he hit the water, the impact jarring his body. He struggled to stay afloat, his broken leg a dead weight dragging him down.
- He gasped for air, his lungs burning. The water was cold, chilling him to the bone. He felt himself losing consciousness, the darkness closing in around him.
- Then, a hand reached out, pulling him from the depths. He felt a surge of warmth, a sense of relief, as he was lifted from the water. He looked up, his vision blurry, and saw a woman with a sharp, angular face and piercing eyes. Her expression was hardened, her lips pressed into a thin line.
- He felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. He closed his eyes, the world fading away.
- He woke up in a hospital bed, the sterile smell of antiseptic filling his nostrils. He looked around, his head pounding, his body aching. He felt a strange sense of disorientation, as if he were seeing the world for the first time.
- He tried to remember what had happened, but his mind was a blank slate. He couldn't remember his name, his family, his life. He felt a sense of panic rising within him, a fear of the unknown.
- He looked down at his bandaged leg, a reminder of his ordeal. He didn't know how he had gotten there, how he had been injured. He felt lost, adrift in a sea of confusion.
- He looked at the woman sitting beside his bed, her arms crossed, her gaze fixed on him. Her expression was unreadable, her lips still pressed into a thin line.
- "You're safe now," she said, her voice rough and gravelly. "You're going to be okay."
- He looked at her, his mind a blank canvas. He didn't know who she was, but he felt a sense of unease in her presence.
- "Who are you?" he asked, his voice hoarse.
- She smirked, a sharp, almost predatory smile that sent a shiver down his spine. "My name is Belle," she said. "I found you on the beach. You were unconscious. I called for help."
- He looked at her, his mind still clouded with confusion. He tried to remember, to grasp at any shred of his past, but his mind remained blank.
- He was lost. And he didn't know how to find his way back.
- The silence stretched between them, thick and heavy. He felt a sense of dread, a fear that something was terribly wrong. He knew he was in danger, but he didn't know why.
- "What happened to me?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.
- Belle's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. "You were in an accident," she said. "A car accident."
- "Where was I going?"
- "I don't know," she replied, her voice flat. "You were unconscious when I found you."
- He felt a surge of frustration. He needed to know, he needed to remember. He needed to understand.
- "Do you know anything about the Black Rabbit?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.
- Belle's eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise crossing her face. "The Black Rabbit?" she repeated, her voice laced with a hint of caution. "Why do you ask?"
- He felt a wave of hope. She knew about the Black Rabbit. Maybe she could help him.
- "I...I think they're after me," he said, his voice trembling. "They tried to kill me."
- Belle's expression remained unreadable. "I don't know anything about the Black Rabbit," she said, her voice calm and steady. "But you're safe now. You're in the hospital. You're going to be okay."
- He looked at her, his heart sinking. He knew she was lying. He could feel it in his gut.
- He had to get out of there. He had to find out what was happening. He had to find his way back to his life. He only remember the word black rabbit organization.
- "Did you know where do you live?" Belle asked.
- Nero simple shook his head, "I don't know."
- Belle raised a brow. "Well, how did you know a black rabbit organization?"
- "I...I don't know..It kept ringing in my mind."
- "Your name?"
- "No idea, either."
- "Family?"
- "I don't know."
- "Your age?"
- "I don't know. Why do you kept asking me?"
- "You dare talk to me like that. I am the one who help you here, boy! I am asking you so that I would know if you lose your head or somethi...." Before Belle could even finish her words, she saw how Nero hold his head and bow his head before groaning.
- "Ah! No! Ah!"
- Seeing him like that, Belle was about to call a doctor when someone enter from the door.
- "What's happening to him?"
- "You might triggered his situation? Did you?" The doctor look at Belle with those curious eyes.
- "Don't look at me like that, Mark."
- "Belle, I know you. Did you?"
- "Just do what you have to do as a doctor!"
- The doctor just shook his head before focusing his eyes on his patient. Later on, he inject something that makes Nero fall asleep.
- "Phew!"
- "What happened to him?"
- "Just like what I told you."
- Belle just rolled her eyes.
- "What would you do to him now. He doesn't remember anything aside from the word Black Rabbit Organization?"
- A look of shock came across the face of Mark as he heard that.
- "Black Rabbit?"
- Both of them gave each other a look before Mark shook his head.
- "Let see if he will remember it again later. With that, I will know what is his situation right now. For now, I'll take a look to my other patients. You are his guardian so take a look at him and don't do anything wrong."
- "Whatever."
