Chapter 40 Scared
- Finally, Mikay reached the rocks Belle had mentioned. Despite her trembling hands and overwhelming fear, she breathed a sigh of relief. For a child like her, what she had witnessed was too much to immediately forget, especially seeing her playmates lying lifeless on the sand.
- Even though she wanted to stop, tears flowed uncontrollably as she looked at their condition. Mikay was drenched, and Nero's clothes were soaked above his waist. They had managed to reach the rocks by boat. Mikay remembered everything that happened; she knew her older brother, Simon, was the reason those strangers came to their town to arrest her sister, Belle, and her brother, Nero. All she could do was pray that everything would be alright and that her family would be safe.
- She snapped out of it and quickly wiped her tears when she saw Nero stand up. The rocks where they were had a small cave-like formation, created by the towering stones. Mikay approached Nero and gently touched his arm.
