Chapter 6 Shadow Of Betrayal

  • "I thought you didn't like her?" Justin asked, his voice laced with suspicion. "You even flirt with her in front of the funeral of Mom and Dad."
  • "Don't be pathetic, Justin. I seriously didn't like her." He nodded, though his brother wasn't convinced. Nero got up and walked outside, needing a cigarette. He wanted to kill these bastards, to avenge his parents' deaths. He wanted to see their faces contorted in pain, to hear their screams as they met their demise.
  • "Mr. Smith," he heard a voice say. He turned to see one of his friends, Kaizer, a man he trusted implicitly. "I have the documents." Kaizer handed him a folder. Nero took a final drag before stamping out his cigarette, crushing it under his heel.
  • "How's the business?" he asked, his voice a low growl.
  • "Which one?" Kaizer replied, his voice laced with amusement. "Chill, just kidding."
  • "Fuck off!" Nero snapped, but Kaizer just laughed. Nero glared at him, and Kaizer immediately shut up. He knew his place.
  • "I know you're talking about the company. The twenty-million was missing," Kaizer said, his eyes widening in surprise. "What?"
  • "You're not fuming mad?" Nero shook his head. "Damn dude. It's a million penny."
  • "What did you call me?" Nero asked coldly.
  • "I said Mr. Smith haha..."
  • "Get the finance supervisor and bring him to our place," Nero said, his voice devoid of emotion. Kaizer looked at him, confused. "Obviously, he was the one who stole the money. He really had the guts to show his face to the hospital yesterday,"
  • "What?! Seriously?"
  • "Yeah," Nero answered, opening the folder. He scanned the contents, his fist clenching as he read. "Prepare our men and destroy all properties that were located in B City. I want it to happen as soon as possible."
  • "Where in B City, Mr. Smith?" Kaizer asked, looking at the information in the folder.
  • "Are you blind? You're the one who gathered the information, but you don't know where it is located."
  • "Haha..I said when we will be going to B City. That's what I said." Nero scoffed, glaring at Kaizer. "I said as soon as possible haha..."
  • "Tch, it's better if you clean your ears," Nero said, his tone laced with annoyance.
  • "Boss, Is that a joke? Haha.." Kaizer stammered, his voice trembling. Nero glared at him, silencing him. "Haha..I said I'll take my leave now, boss."
  • "Don't forget your other job," Nero added, his voice cold. Kaizer stopped in his tracks. "Retard. I also assign you to bring that bastard who stole a lot of pennies from my company."
  • "I'm teasing you, boss. I know that," Kaizer said, smirking. He looked at Nero, his eyes filled with curiosity. "What are you thinking, boss?"
  • Nero met his gaze, a smirk playing on his lips. "I'm thinking if you can still joke around if I shoot your head right now." He threatened him, watching Kaizer shiver.
  • "I said I am a retard and I'll take my leave." Kaizer ran away, and Nero shook his head at his stupidity. He was about to leave when he heard a voice.
  • "What are you doing here, Nero?" He turned to see his uncle. Nero shook his head. "I'm not believing in you."
  • Nero shrugged. "Then don't."
  • "Who is the guy you are talking to right now?" his uncle asked, his voice laced with curiosity.
  • "My friend." His uncle nodded. "Your friend, but you have a cold treatment for him."
  • Nero hissed. "What's it to you? It's my personal life." They gave each other a look before Nero continued, "you are my uncle, but I have a cold treatment for you. I have my brother, but I have a cold treatment for him also. Are there any differences?" Nero was getting annoyed, but his uncle remained calm.
  • "You're right, but what if he turns you down because of your treatment?" Nero scoffed, his eyes narrowing. He felt like his uncle was implying that Kaizer was a traitor. He clenched his fist, forcing himself to stay calm.
  • "You're right, uncle." He met his uncle's gaze. "Well, dad is kind to his people, but not to his enemy, but that was his weakness, and I will not do the same thing because, you know? In this world—in our world rather, the person who is kind is the person who is easy to break their walls, and I will not do the same thing."
  • "Hmm, what will you do then? Feel their cold treatment of both your enemy and your people?"
  • Nero smirked. "Gotcha!" His uncle looked at him, confused. "Dad should stick to one personality, but he sticks to duality. Dad should have a cold treatment to his enemy and to his people like you. Am I right, uncle?"
  • His uncle glared at him. "I am not just your Dad's people. I am his brother, and I am your uncle, so basically, he was kind to me. Don't be stupid, kid. Like father, like son."
  • "You're wrong, uncle. I will not do the same thing. I will always treat my people like this because in this attitude, I can easily see the person who is pretending and the person who is being loyal to me."
  • "Nero, I know you hate me, but I don't have the reason to kill your father." The curve on Nero's lips rose. He had him trapped.
  • Nero tapped his uncle's shoulder. "I'm not saying that, uncle." He clenched his fist as he passed his uncle and entered the funeral home. He knew his uncle was lying, but he didn't need to prove it yet. He had a plan, and he would use every piece of information, every shred of evidence, to bring down those who had wronged his family. He was Nero, and he would have his revenge
