Chapter 6 Defiance
- Xavier's pov.
- Fate couldn't be this cruel, or was it the moon goddess? I asked myself.
- All my life, I had searched for the perfect woman, someone who would stand by me and be the Luna of this pack as we protect it from our adversaries. All this time, she was on the other side of my pack, fighting for the ones who wanted to tear me down.
- How could this be?
- This had to be a sick fucking joke, and I still could not believe it.
- There was nothing I despised more than rogues, yet, the fate of the moon goddess paired me with one; how fucking laughable.
- My eyes were lost in hers, looking at her right now, she was fucking beautiful, but that didn't stop the fact that I was paired with a fucking rogue.
- Every time she had come to give me food in the last week, I always made sure not to be around because she could make me lost for words, and I didn't want to be like that; she always did whatever was on her mind. Right now, she was in my fucking room, and she came in without knocking.
- Who the fuck tries that? Everybody else feared me, but what's up with her? Why did she feel like she could get away with anything she did? She better not mistake my quietness for being stupid if something.
- “You…” I uttered, trailing off as I released my grip on her hair and stepped back to take her in fully; her kinky blonde hair, captivating blue eyes, and pink lips, I was tempted to lean into. Everything about her pulled me in.
- Fuck.
- I cussed silently, finding it hard to deny how beautiful she was. She was a lovely woman, and I could see how crazy she would drive me, especially in that fucking skimpy dress that she was always putting on.
- Was it too late for me to tell her not to be a maid? I fucking told her about this dress, get she wore it each time to tempt me, and yes, I was fucking tempted.
- She had a banging body, and that was not even helping my situation. I wanted to blame all the extra feelings on the moon goddess and the mate bond.
- She was so fucking beautiful, and Lunas were not supposed to be just lovely; they were supposed to be the support system for the alpha and the pack, the nurturing, loving, and kind women who put the needs of the packs before their own.
- Not a fucking rouge who challenged me at each command I gave her.
- I cleared my throat, refusing to let her beauty deter me from what I had in mind.
- “What did I tell you about this fucking dress?” I asked her as I took a step back from her.
- “It's not my fault there isn't a size that is way bigger; this is what they have, and you don't expect me to walk around naked, do you?” She asked me, and I cussed silently again.
- Fucking smart mouth; honestly, ever since I met her, I've talked more than I have ever spoken in a year.
- “Do you want me to make you regret your actions?” I asked her.
- “She's our mate, don't talk to her like that.”
- “She's our mate when I decided that she is, so shut the fuck up.” I snapped at the wolf in my head, glaring at the daring woman before me.
- I already had a Luna in mind, Alicia. I didn't move her, and we didn't have any romantic connection, but she was a Luna material; she possessed the skills and temperament to be an alpha female. The rogue, on the other hand, was an unpredictable element, a chaotic force that could only bring damage and destruction; I could tell by the way she looked. She had that fire in her eyes, the fire that would burn anything that didn't make her feel comfortable.
- The fire in her eyes served no purpose apart from self-interest; Alicia was the one who would be by my side, not some rogue who turned up out of nowhere.
- Something came to mind, and I decided to ask her.
- “Are you working for the rogue king?” I questioned her, growling when I saw her scoff. “Do you think this is funny, rogue? What about this situation is funny?” I asked her.
- “Oh, I can think of a few things.” She gave a smart reply.
- A defiant gaze locked into mine; her voice was smooth like silk, pulling me in and making it hard to resist her; it didn't help that she was saying things that were annoying me. The only thing that mattered was the way her voice sounded. I heard the growls my wolf was making. He wanted to mark her and mate with her right here.
- She would ruin us if we tried. It would be my demise; I just had that feeling.
- Her gaze challenged mine, the audacity of her response only dueling the fire of my frustration. This woman would be the death of me if I gave her the chance to; she would wear me out and leave me exhausted.
- “Who sent you to my territory?” I asked her, and this time, she rolled her eyes at me exasperatedly and shook her head feebly to move her blonde hair out of her face.
- My reputation of tearing rogues limb to limb should have her shaking in fear, but instead, I am met with her defiance, and this is the woman I should claim as my mate. I asked myself internally and scoffed. It was not possible.
- If I told Alicia to sit down at once, she would, without questioning me, but this woman right here would ask me in Al the decisions I make; I could not risk it.
- Give me a fucking break.
- “Who are you, and what are you doing in my lands?” I asked through gritted teeth.
- Again, I am met with silence.
- The air crackled with tension as I tried to gather my thoughts and think of how to deal with this woman, fighting the impulsive reaction to rush to her and pull her into my arms.
- “You will answer me, rogue!” I growled at her, my voice dripping with aggression, as I lunged forward, seizing her by the throat; at the sudden contact, electricity coursed through my veins, and I had to force away the desirable, distracting sensations.
- “Oh yeah? Or what?” she retorted daringly, her eyes staring into mine.
