Chapter 18 She Did Not Come

  • Lucien answered calmly, “She didn't come.”
  • “What? How rude. This doesn't make sense.”
  • The rest were surprised as well. After all, the bride's family background was definitely not as good as the Riviere family.
  • Any woman who married into the Riviere family should feel grateful. How could she be so impudent? Who's this stupid woman?
  • Yandel chimed in, “I bet she isn't here because you didn't allow her to come. You want to keep her to yourself, so you're unwilling to let us meet her.”
  • Striding over, Lucien sat down next to Yandel and leaned on the couch.
  • “As expected, you know me the best.”
  • At that, the other men laughed.
  • “Since Lucien is now a married man, surely we can't find beautiful women to entertain us anymore,” Harold joked.
  • “Don't say it as if I've always looked for beautiful women. It's going to ruin my reputation.”
  • At that moment, Julian took out a cigar and handed it to Lucien.
  • Before lighting up the cigar, the latter pointed at the mischievous Harold.
  • Among them, Harold was the youngest. He was the youngest grandson in the Garnett family and everyone in his family doted on him.
  • The four of them became friends because they liked to play golf and snooker.
  • Despite being the youngest, Harold was talented and good at sports.
  • Although he was playful, he had a good character, so he got along very well with the others.
  • A few days ago, he had just returned from vacation, and as soon as he landed, the internet was in an uproar.
  • Lucien got married, and the bride was Denver's fiancée.
  • It was such a big deal. Thus, when Lucien was finally free, Harold had asked him to come out for a drink.
  • In fact, he was curious about what had happened.
  • Except for Harold, the others were not interested in women.
  • Yandel had a girlfriend, but she had passed away from breast cancer two years ago.
  • The incident impacted him greatly, and since then, he had not been in a relationship.
  • Meanwhile, Julian was too busy with his career and had no time to look for a girlfriend.
  • However, the Wardner family was one of the four most prestigious families, so he definitely would not need to worry about getting married.
  • Harold had invited a few of his peers. All of them were children of wealthy families.
  • In order to liven up the mood, he had also invited a few beautiful models.
  • The models were very bold as they soon got themselves drunk and went out of their minds after having many drinks.
  • With upbeat music playing in the background, several people were dancing on the dance floor.
  • Taking advantage of the noisy environment, Yandel lowered his head and whispered to Lucien, “What's going on? Why did you get married so suddenly? And the bride is Denver's fiancée. This isn't your way of doing things.”
  • Lucien slightly curled the corner of his lips and replied, “I was just saving the damsel in distress.”
  • “Don't be ridiculous. Tell us the truth. We've been curious for the whole day.”
  • Indeed, not only Yandel, but even Julian, who was an introvert, wanted to ask Lucien why he got married so hastily.
  • Most importantly, he had snatched someone else's bride away at the wedding.
  • Wouldn't he offend the Salisbury family by doing that?
  • In fact, everyone roughly knew what had happened. After all, there were so many guests at the scene.
  • On that important day, Denver had been caught red-handed for cheating on the bride.
  • And because of that, the bride had to face thousands of guests alone. However, out of everyone's expectation, the bride was a valiant woman.
  • Not only did she not cry, but she had also chosen a groom for herself, and the groom was Lucien.
  • That was the story they heard, but they wanted to hear it from Lucien himself.
  • Leaning against the red couch, Lucien flashed them a furtive smile.
