Chapter 13 Confronting Purcell

  • Boom! Boom! Boom!
  • The sounds of battle echoed around them. Laelim's hundreds of underlings stationed at the foot of Ponolem Hill were out cold.
  • Seeing this, a look of shock washed over Laelim's face.
  • Jaymore looked up and spotted a middle-aged guy with sharp eyes heading their way. This guy, about forty, had a gnarly scar across his face. Yup, it was Laelim's old foe—Purcell!
  • Purcell locked eyes with Laelim and joked, "Well, well, Laelim, long time no see. Is this how you greet an old buddy?"
  • Laelim clenched his jaw, retorting, "Purcell, I didn't think you'd have the guts to show up here again after what happened."
  • Purcell burst into laughter and proclaimed, "Hahaha! Laelim, you kicked me out and left me busted up years back. Now, I'm back to settle the score and take what's mine!"
  • Laelim took a breath, trying to reason, "Purcell, if you call off this craziness, I'll cough up ten million. Deal?"
  • "You're too trusting, Laelim," Purcell sneered. "I'm here to wipe you out and take back what's mine. It's game over for you!"
  • Upon hearing this, Laelim knew there was no talking his way out of it.
  • "Bomber, take him down!" he ordered.
  • Laelim's top fighter, Bomber, charged forward in response. However, Purcell's face twisted with disgust as he watched Bomber's approach. With a clenched fist, he delivered a powerful blow.
  • Boom!
  • Bomber went flying backward, blood gushing from his mouth when he hit the ground.
  • "Bomber!" Laelim rushed to his fallen buddy's side. Bomber lay there, barely breathing, his chest all messed up.
  • Purcell locked eyes with Laelim, sneering, "You're up next!"
  • Watching Bomber, his top fighter, get taken out so easily, Laelim panicked. He dropped down on his knees in front of Jaymore.
  • "Mr. Reed, please, help me!" he pleaded.
  • Jaymore looked at Laelim calmly. "If you swear to follow me, I'll save you."
  • "Mr. Reed, I'll do anything if you save me!" Laelim promised, desperate to stay alive.
  • "Okay, I won't let you die," Jaymore agreed.
  • Purcell laughed as he mocked, "Haha! Who's brave enough to try and save my target?"
  • Jaymore stared right back at Purcell, his gaze steady. "Consider this your last warning. Get lost, or you'll regret it."
  • "You're asking for trouble!" Purcell shot back, a dangerous glint in his eyes.
  • Driven by pure vengeance, he lunged at Jaymore. Quick as lightning, Purcell closed in fast. "Time to say goodbye, brat!" he growled, aiming a deadly blow at Jaymore's head.
  • Yet, Jaymore didn't flinch. With a swift move, he countered with a powerful punch.
  • Crack! Purcell froze, disbelief written all over his face as blood flew from his mouth.
  • "You..." Before Purcell could get another word out, he crumpled to the ground, lifeless.
  • Laelim stared up at Jaymore, completely stunned.
