Chapter 9 He's Here to Pick a Fight With Me

  • Upon seeing this, Declan and the others trembled with fear.
  • Jaymore, on the contrary, looked as cool as a cucumber. "You guys got a death wish? I'll help you with it!"
  • With that, he sprang into action, charging into the crowd at such an astonishing speed that all one could see was a blur of motion.
  • Smack! Whack! Thud…
  • A series of loud crashes followed, and within moments, the eight burly men in suits were writhing on the ground in agony.
  • "What the…" Chelsea's eyes widened in astonishment. She had never imagined that her seemingly useless husband possessed such formidable strength.
  • On the other hand, Declan had a look of pure terror on his face, unable to suppress the shivers running through him as he looked on.
  • It was only then that Jaymore looked up at Laelim. Eyeing him with contempt, he said, "Seems like your men aren't much."
  • Laelim turned ghastly pale at the remark. These men were his right-hand men, but now they seemed like mere amateurs in front of Jaymore.
  • Nevertheless, being the underworld overlord of Walstino, he was not easily intimidated. With a frosty expression, he replied, "Indeed, I've underestimated you. I didn't expect a mere live-in son-in-law like you to possess such strength. But so what? I didn't rise from a street thug to the underworld overlord of Walstino by mere talk! Today, I'll show you what I'm capable of!"
  • Jaymore furrowed his brow at the overwhelming murderous intent surging from Laelim as he spoke. With his keen eye, he could tell instantly that Laelim was a middle-stage Postcelestial expert. Looks like this Laelim guy does have some real strength to become the underworld overlord of Walstino.
  • To prevent others from getting hurt, he turned to Chelsea and urged, "Honey, you and the rest get out of here for now. I'll handle this."
  • Hearing this, Declan and the others quickly fled from the room.
  • Chelsea hesitated for a moment, unsure whether she should stay or leave. After giving Jaymore a profound look, she finally gritted her teeth and left.
  • Once everyone else had left, Laelim said with a sneer, "Your time is up, kid!"
  • Ring! Ring…
  • He was about to make his move when Jaymore's phone rang all of a sudden.
  • Jaymore picked up the phone and saw that it was a call from an unknown number. "Hello, who's this?" he asked.
  • "Is this Mr. Reed? It's me, Malinda!" came Malinda's voice on the other end.
  • "What's up? Why are you calling me?" Jaymore asked.
  • "Mr. Reed, didn't you promise to help treat my grandpa? Where are you now? I'll come pick you up right away!"
  • Darting a glance at Laelim, Jaymore replied, "I'm at Nova Bay Resort."
  • "Alright, I'll be right there!"
  • With that, Malinda ended the call and drove straight to Nova Bay Resort.
  • "Kid, were you calling for backup?" Laelim mocked with a sneer. "I'll give you three minutes. Let's see what kind of backup you can get here. In any case, you're going to die today for crossing me!"
  • He was the underworld overlord of Walstino, and no one had ever dared to cross him in the city. He doubted that Jaymore could summon anyone powerful.
  • Just one minute later, a Lamborghini pulled up at the entrance to Nova Bay Resort.
  • Malinda stepped out of the car and walked straight into the private room. When she saw Jaymore, her face lit up with smiles. "Mr. Reed, I found you at last."
  • Laelim was visibly astounded by her arrival. "M-Miss Hopkin…" he stammered.
  • Hearing his voice, Malinda turned to him, frowning. "Laelim, what are you doing here?" Although she recognized Laelim, the underworld overlord of Walstino, she did not think much of him.
  • "I…" Laelim faltered, unsure how to respond.
  • "He's here to pick a fight with me," Jaymore interjected casually.
