Chapter 23 Golden System

• [Initializing functions complete... Binding the system to the host.... Binding complete.....Starting functions.....All functions are on and the system is ready to function. Welcome to the golden life Alex.]
• While this was going on, Alex had already lost consciousness and he only woke up after about thirty minutes. 'What was that all about?' Alex asked himself as the light enveloping the room dimmed down and the lighting went back to normal. Alex still felt a headache and still had his eyes closed.
• When his eyes opened, the thing that he saw was transparent letters floating in front of him. He reached his hand to touch them but his hand passed through it like a phantom. Alex then got onto his feet and looked around. That's when he saw that the letters would appear in his line of vision like a holographic screen.
• After seeing that things were all back to normal apart from the screen, Alex decided to see the contents of the screen. After reading the previous history, when he was unconscious, Alex decided to see what this Golden system entails. Looking at the screen where there were several texts, at the bottom right corner, there was an icon that read home.
• Alex used his finger to touch it but as usual, his finger passed through it. He tried it again and again but the results remained the same. 'Now what is the meaning of this? Why should you put something for me when you don't allow me to access it?' Alex was indeed frustrated from the many attempts that he had already made but gave no positive results. He wondered if he was going to walk with the stupid screen floating in front of his eyes.
• He walked towards the table and that's when he noticed that all the things that he'd placed on the table before attempting to open the system awakening skill book were all gone. "Now that's it! This is a scandal! How can someone steal from me consecutively? Conning me money for a useless book and now the useless book steals what I've just bought?"
• "Well at least the book opened this idiotic screen in front of me. But why must it steal my blood and sweat?" Alex ranted without care that he was in an inn where several people stayed. He kept quite for a while before deciding to go back to the bed and rest for a while.He was drained that he himself couldn't understand the concept on which he got tired.
• Sleeping while facing the ceiling, Alex decided to use his thoughts to try and control the screen. Physical contact is not applicable to spirits that have no physical bodies. As soon as he thought of home, the screen contents changed.

• When Alex saw these changes, his spirit rose a little bit. After reading through the contents, Alex decided to see his status. After a thought, the screen showed his current status.

• When Alex saw his stats, he was stupefied. Everything had drastically dropped apart from the stats that were not shown on the adventurer's card. This now proved that the skill was full of theft. Just how on earth did he have such low stats? After grumbling for a while, he calmed down and noticed that he now had a lightning affinity.Alex immediately got off the bed with a big smile plastered allover his face.
• "Hahaha! Now I am awakened! Nobody is going to look down on me again! Hahahaha!" Alex laughed loudly like a maniac that those who were staying in the rooms closer to his wondered if he had gone mad. Alex then calmed down and focused on the mana that was flowing through his mana veins. He then controlled it to move towards his left hand and then, some sparks of lightning came out. Being that he hadn't trained as a mage, Alex couldn't do anything other than bring out small sparks of lightning.
• When he checked his mana, he saw that just that small result had consumed over thirty of his mana points. That was to be expected as Alex didn't have good control over his mana. He was lucky that he didn't draw too much mana otherwise, the room would have been set ablaze.
• It seemed that each of his vitality point gave him five points of HP and each of mental strength point gave him ten mana points. With Alex's current stats, he could barely fight a rank 1 martial monster at its initial stages. The only thing that could help Alex in this case is his experience when fighting monsters.
• Then, he saw the option such as coins. It didn't take a genius to identify the role that coins would play when there is a store option available. He then saw that he had ten ability points which he could distribute freely. For that, he decided that he would use it only when needed as he didn't know which department he was currently lacking so he would do it during a fight.
• As for the skills, Alex didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Why would his best and only skills be given such a low ranking? He decided not to think much about it and deal with other problems first. For the job option, his status showed that he was an adventurer, which didn't show on the adventurer's card. He didn't know if he could also change his job.
• As for his power ranking, he didn't have any comment. He would only have to keep going with practice so that he could increase his power level. Good thing there were several cultivation techniques that could be used. As for his warrior and mage categorization, he believed that it was due to his body training in the previous three years and his current lightning affinity.
• Next rank percentage, he had no idea. He just had to wait until he could obtain a cultivation technique so that he could confirm his current theories. Alex got back to the bed and sat down to cool his thoughts down first. He had to think through things clearly.
• Now that he had awakened, he was pretty sure that if this news got home, they would try bringing him back. After all in this world, who doesn't value power? They would want to try and nurture him so that they could gain profits when he was strong enough. Invest now then reap later.
• Now, he would have to keep a secret that he is both a mage and a warrior. In history, there was no such a person that had happened to be balancing both and had both of them ranked. Although some mages train their bodies, they do not cultivate and this they are not true warriors. The title battle mage came to be because they were mages but they could fight in close combat.
• Simon is s good example. Simon had trained his body that it was on par with a rank 4 warrior. Although he can be compared to a rank 4 warrior, if a fight occurs, then he would lose as only his body has the strength of a warrior but lacks the capabilities of an awakened warrior.
• Further more, it's difficult to increase the ranks when compared to those that are awakened warriors who can use cultivation techniques. This was the reason why Simon didn't give Alex a cultivation technique. It would be a waste of time since only those that have awakened could cultivation. Simon only had one goal, help Alex gain strength to be independent.
• Now that aside, Alex decided to see what else was contained in this system that he had awakened. He again thought of home and the screen went back to the home screen. Since he had too much questions about the system, he decided to check on the queries icon.
