Chapter 12 Moving Out Solo

  • "Look who's back, can't you at least come and greet your mom and brothers and tell them that you are back?" a voice came from the door pull Alex out of his reminiscence. He raised his head and looked at the door. There, stood Amanda with her arms on both sides of her hips smiling at Alex. Below that smile that didn't reach the eyes, there laid coldness.
  • Alex just stared at her without making a sound. This is how he has always behaved with Amanda. Whenever he tried clarifying things, she'd always twist his words to make it seem that he is provoking her. Thus, he learnt that it's best to save his energy and let her do what she intents to do as even if he tried to express himself wouldn't save him, it would just add more trouble.
  • Amanda looked at Alex who was staring back at her. Although she might not seem like it, but she is a mage at Rank 5 mid stages thus she's stronger than Alex, too strong should be the correct term. The strong tend to look down on the weak thus on seeing that Alex was jus staring at her without giving out any response, she moved at a speed Alex couldn't detect and slapped Alex hard that he was flung and hit the wall with a bang.
  • If it was before Alex began his training, he would have had several broken ribs, but thanks to his training, he managed to raise his arms and crossed them before his face thus the slap landed on his crossed arms. Of course, he moved before she did because he already expected it otherwise, he would have found himself hitting the wall and experiencing pain without knowing how he was hit. Of course, even now he didn't see how she hit him, he only knew it was a slap as he felt it when it touched his arms.
  • Even as he was hit, that wasn't the full strength of a rank 5 mage. Although they are weaker compared to warriors, they physique is almost seven times that of an ordinary person Otherwise, Alex might have already died. As even a rank 1 monster could injure him, what of someone who was four levels above? Of course, this was just about five percent of her strength. Remember she's a mage and not a warrior thus her physical ability was not that high and could be said to be poor in comparison to warriors.
  • "It seems that your behavior hasn't changed at all, you're still that stupid idiot, I guess you never learn how to respect those that are older than you and are even stronger than you. Now, where the hell did you go for the past three years?" Amanda asked, crossing her arms as she stared at Alex who was trying to stand up. He had at least two broken ribs and several fractured and dislocated bones. The pain was immense but he still persevered and tried standing up.
  • Alex didn't respond to her question and struggled to stand. Although Amanda knew that Alex wouldn't speak, she tried just in case he changed his personality after three years. Seeing he had no intention of speaking, she harrumphed and walked out of the room while leaving behind words. "Be ready for punishment for being arrogant and ignorant, I'll make sure you go through hell so you can change that foul attitude of yours."
  • She walked out of the room leaving behind Alex who slumped on the ground just after she disappeared from his view. He was having a hard time breathing due to the pain. He forced himself to reach the backpack on the wall and searched for a healing tonic. He immediately used it without reservations and began positioning back the dislocated bones.
  • After he was done, he laid back on the mat to let the tonic take effect. While down there, he began wondering if staying here had any importance. According to the way things were, it was only problems and nothing much, just pain.
  • He contemplated whether to just leave or stay behind. According to the pros and cons he had estimated, he got that there were too many pros compared to the too little cons. Of course, going away he would have the advantage of advancing in strength but the only con was that he had to depend on himself in every case.
  • Although there were apparent disadvantages on a blink of an eye, there long term benefits were much more profound than all the disadvantages present. He contemplated for a little while longer before he finally stood up and got out of the room with a determined expression.
  • He had all that belonged to him in his backpack. As he walked out of the gate, some of the servants watched him leaving wondering if he had already been sent somewhere but his step mother. Truly despicable, that was what they had in mind. Alex didn't know and didn't care about what they thought, he was leaving since he didn't feel at home even for a second.
  • Walking out of the courtyard and leaving through the front gate, Alex looked behind him after taking a few steps outside the gate. He looked at the place where he was born which didn't have any sense of security. He stared for a few seconds before leaving on in his way to Kravon town, the only place he knew of other than his hometown.
  • He slowly followed the track that they had used during their travel back from Kravon town. Since he was on foot, it was given that it'd take him more than four days to arrive at the town. He knew the dangers involved in the travel as he had witnessed them on the way to and fro. But for a better life, he had to take risks.
  • He followed the road slowly while making sure to take in the environment around him to ensure that he wasn't ambushed. He kept himself at one side of the road and made sure that he never walked at the center.
  • When night fell, he hunted a wild rabbit and roasted it. After having dinner, he climbed a tree and used one of its branches as a bed and the sky as a blanket. Though the night was cold as always, having being a trained warrior enabled him to withstand the cold night breeze. Slowly but surely, he drifted off to sleep.
  • Back at home, every nook and cranny was being searched for Alex. The surrounding forests, rivers and caves, none were left without being searched. The servants were doing their best to appease the master of the house who was dead set on seeing his son. It has been three years since he last saw him hence he was wondering where he was.
  • Simon on the other hand knew the reason they couldn't find Alex, he had left home to start a new life. Who could blame him when home itself wasn't welcoming unlike a new place where he was and had total freedom?
  • "Search for him everywhere, don't dare to come back here without him," Jake gave orders with a stern face to the servants who were shaking from fear of facing their masters wrath. Although they were shaking, they were thankful in their hearts that they weren't facing Amanda, the lady of the house, otherwise they would be screwed for sure.
  • True to their thoughts, Amanda was indeed hitting those servants who had reported to her that they couldn't find Alex. "You bunch of idiots, just finding a boy is so difficult for you? Of what use are you if such an easy task is so difficult for you to handle?" She spoke with her eyes blazing in fury. She wanted to get hold of Alex so that she could at least break his legs for disturbing her night.
  • Jake who was standing outside the mansion with the moon shining in the night sighed with sadness. He knew this day would come but he didn't expect it would be so soon. Yes, he knew Alex would one day leave his home. But all he now wanted was to at least see him one last time.
