Chapter 22 Twenty-two
- POV Isabella:
- It's almost dinner time and I should go take a bath and get ready for that unbearable charade of a functional family we have every night. But I'm instead organizing the books on a shelf in the main living room to do something and not go crazy in here. That's when I hear the front doorbell ring. My body tenses instantly. We're not expecting visitors today, and in the world we live in, surprises are never good.
- The butler hurries past me, and through the window, I see two black cars parked in the driveway. I swallow hard. It's the feds.
