Chapter 38 Elegance Clashes With Impudence

  • Compared to William Blake's elegance, Jackie seemed particularly brash and impolite. Even though William Blake had offered a smile as a gesture of goodwill, Jackie was completely dismissive. It was as if he didn't recognize William Blake at all when passing by him. His gaze was naked with disregard and indifference, as if William Blake had never crossed into his line of sight.
  • There are many wealthy individuals in the world, especially in this era of newly rich tycoons becoming famous overnight. In stark contrast are the ancient, noble families with at least three generations of heritage. To Jackie of the Gu family, William Blake would always be a vulgar upstart, the sort of person his noble lineage would look down upon.
  • With so many reporters and spectators present, it was a wonder to behold as William Blake, the richest man in city S, was blatantly disregarded. Many attendees began discussing the casually dressed Jackie's identity, and once they learned of his background, no one felt pity for William Blake, as if Jackie's arrogance was justified.
