• I stood looking at my reflection in the mirror. I looked like a different person after Alona had done my makeup. I don’t know what she did to my eyes, but the liner made my eyes look exotic and pretty.
• Behind me Alona stood smiling. “I knew it would be your color. It was too dark for me. I’m much paler. Burgundy plum.” She nodded.
• Moving my eyes back to look at myself. “I’ve never really worn lipstick, always thought it made my lips look big.”
