Chapter 7

  • RYAN’S POV
  • I woke up from the buzzing sounds erupting from my phone. My body was frenzied but I managed to get up.
  • There were no blinding rays of sun from the window, so I guess maybe the sun was not out yet. I pulled the blanket to my side and noticed it moved freely which was weird because the last thing I remember from the night before was tugging beside Isabella.
  • My phone started buzzing and I groaned again, stretching my arms towards the stool on the bed side and grabbing the phone.
  • I cleaned my eyes as the light that flashed my eyes stung me.
  • Grandma.
  • I heaved a deep sigh and picked up the call.
  • “Good morning, grandma.”
  • “Good morning, Ryan. How are you?”
  • “I am doing fine, grandma.”
  • “You sound like you just woke up.”
  • “Yes Grandma, I just woke up. I had a long night.”
  • “I guess you probably know why I called.”
  • “Let me take a wild guess…you wanna ask me when I am getting married?”
  • “You know, I love that you are starting to know me better.”
  • “Yeah yeah, my fiancé and I have not planned a wedding date yet.”
  • “I am so proud of you. You are now taking your grandmother’s advice. We cannot allow your cousin to take the heir from you. You have worked so hard and you deserve every bit of it.”
  • “Yes Grandma, you have sounded this multiple times and I am grateful that you look out for me. I love you.”
  • “I love you too. Now do and fix a date. And get married so you can have kids and become the rightful heir. Talk to you later.”
  • “Bye grandma.”
  • I ended the call and rolled my eyes. I loved my grandmother so much but since the whole situation about the heir of the family, she has been uptight.
  • Always asking about marriage and having a family. She is the primary reason why I even forced Isabella to marry me. I have no other choice and she fits to be my wife.
  • I got out of bed, freshened up and made the attempt to find my soon to be wife.
  • I met her in the library, going through some books and giggling.
  • “Good morning, you are up early.”
  • “I got tired of sleeping and needed to read something for school.”
  • “That is good. How are you today? Are you still sore from yesterday?”
  • “Umm, I don’t want to talk about yesterday and I am fine, thanks for asking.”
  • “Why are you so cold towards me? You know we are about to get married right? You should at least show some sort of affection towards me.”
  • “This is a contract, Ryan, no need for unnecessary familiarity. We don’t need to be close friends or couples in private, just in public and for the cameras.”
  • “I mean we could make this work.”
  • “No need. And if you don’t mind, I am studying here and would not need any distractions.”
  • “Sorry about that. I wanna go roundup some things and attend a serious affair and I won’t be back anytime soon.”
  • “Okay.”
  • “Take care of yourself and if you need anything, ask any of the maids. I am working towards getting you a personal assistant.”
  • “I don’t need one. I am capable of taking care of myself. “
  • “Okay baby. Bye.”
  • “Isabella, you mean. Bye.”
  • I walked out of the room with my heart on my sleeve. I liked how feisty she was. I admired that she was not ready to give in to a complete stranger yet.
  • I went to my office and placed some calls to my bodyguards, telling them to bring Levi Dawson to my chambers.
  • I needed to teach the bastard a little lesson for what he did. He will not raise a finger on my wife or on any woman, especially after I am done with him today.
  • “Is he there right now?”
  • “Yes boss.”
  • “Okay, get me a nurse and a sharp knife. I will be there in thirty minutes.”
  • “Okay boss.”
  • I left my office and entered my car, driving myself to my chambers. Before getting to that place, I arrived at the Hermes boutique and bought a red Hermes animal skin bag for Isabella and kept it as a gift for her.
  • If she doesn't love me heartily now, maybe I can make her love me.
  • I entered the garage and parked the car. I was welcomed by bountiful hailing and greetings by my boys who were happy to see me today as I often don’t come here.
  • “Where is he at?”
  • “Room 44.”
  • “Okay.”
  • I could feel the anger run through my veins and arteries as I opened Room 44 door, revealing a man tied to a chair, with his mouth sellotaped.
  • “Well well well. If it isn’t Levi. Levi Dawson. The famous Dawson family.”
  • I tapped his hand and took a seat beside him.
  • I pulled off the sellotape on his mouth, allowing him to breathe properly and talk.
  • “What do you want from me Ryan?”
  • “You know, for someone who is tied up in my chambers, you have a big mouth.”
  • “I just want to know what you want with me?.”
  • “This is not about you, Levi. You can go to hell for all I care. This is about my wife. Isabella.”
  • “Your wife? I thought you guys were just messing around?”
  • I landed a slap on his cheeks, forcing his face to turn sideways and making him cough out blood.
  • “Levi, you have the audacity to even think you raised your filthy fingers on her. For that, I would teach you a lesson.
  • “What are you gonna do Ryan? Kill me?”
  • “No, not yet, I just wanna teach you a lesson. Never lay a finger on my wife.”
  • “Boys, bring in the doctor and the knife.”
  • His eyes widened and he looked very shocked.
  • “Boys come and hold his hands straight on the table.”
  • “Doctor, slice a finger of his hand without anesthesia and stitch it up back. I want his filthy finger out of his body.”
  • The room was dead silent and I grinned with a surge of happiness.
  • My boys held his hands down and the doctor used the sharp knife to cut off his finger, making him release a loud cry and causing a pool of blood.
  • He was stitched up and sedated then the thrown on the street where he would find his way home.
  • “Never lay a finger on my wife.”
