Chapter 7

• Broken bonds.
• Daniela stared at her reflection in the mirror of her childhood bedroom, her hands trembling as she smoothed down the wrinkles in her blouse. The room, once her shield, now felt like a prison to her. She had made up her mind already that she was going to be with Alexander. After all, She was old enough to make decisions on her own, but she was also scared of the confrontation waiting for her in the living room .Her parents murmured voices oozing through the walls,their tones a mixture of frustration and concern. Daniela took a deep breath, thinking about her life. She is not going to let anyone dictate her life for her, not even her parents. “ This is for Noah,” She whispered to herself , her voice shaky but determined. As she entered the living room, the familiar scent of air freshener was all over the living room. Robert sat in his usual chair, his arms crossed and face set like someone that was going to the battlefield, while Margaret perched on the edge of the couch,her hands folded together.
• Robert broke the silence first.“ What is your decision now , Daniela?” Robert asked, his tone sharp but lined with unique expectations . “ You have been upstairs for hours. Say l it out”.
