Chapter 24
- Jaccob stared at the woman before him in conflict. He didn't know if to yell at her for daring to challenge his authority, or applaud her for standing up for herself in the face of rumour mongers. He wanted to scream at Stephanie to stop being so seductive without even trying, he wanted to snake his hands around those hips that filled her pants so nicely to stop them from jiggling ever so slightly in a manner that almost gave him a hard on.
- Almost.
- The raw hurt in Stephanie's eyes, when she obediently went off to get him a cup of coffee that he didn't even need, had sliced through Jaccob's heart like an assassin's blade. He wasn't so good when he came to compartmentalising his emotions and he'd made several mistakes due to this reason. One of these numerous errs was one he'd involuntarily followed after Stephanie to correct; he'd lashed out at her when he received disturbing news about an important contract that didn't fall through.
