Chapter 3
- Anabelle froze for a second, would he remember her? Her mouth opened and she shut it with no word coming out, what the hell was he doing here?
- "Are you the mother of the kid?" The doctor asked, interrupting her train of thoughts and she stared dumbly at the doctor
- "Ma'am?" The doctor called and she blinked
- "Your son has lost a lot of blood and will need blood transfusion immediately or we might lose him"
- Thoughts of Hazel being with her son flew off from her head as what the doctor had just said sunk in
- "No!" The cry wrenched out from her lips and she grabbed the doctor's sleeve "What are you guys still waiting for? start the transfusion already"
- "What's your blood type?"
- "I'm B positive" she replied quickly and the doctor shook his head
- "You cannot be his donor, his blood and yours are incompatible"
- "I know that, why don't you get from your blood bank"
- "He needs about six pint of blood and we don't have even one of his blood type, although, we have contacted some hospitals but it will take up to six hours to get here and I'm sorry, it might be too late for him then"
- "No!" She cried, "I can't lose my son"
- Hazel stood up from where he had been sitting, he had to leave right away to attend a business meeting, his assistant had just messaged him the details of it and as it stands, he was running late already.
- Anabelle instinctively grabbed his shirt when he moved past her and he turned to stare at her in surprise, "y...you can't go"
- "Excuse me?" His brow furrowed furiously, he has done his best by bringing her son to the hospital, who is she to tell him not to leave
- "I..I said you can't go, please save my son"
- "Do I look like a Doctor" his tone sounded very irritated and he pulled his arms away from her grasp but she ran in front of him to block his path
- This was a difficult situation for her, she would not have done this if her son's life was not in danger but she would do anything for the sake of her son, even if it meant exposing his identity to Hazel De Valle
- "Please save my son, he has your blood type, I am begging you for the sake of humanity do not let him die"
- Tears were flowing profusely from her eyes and she grabbed his sleeves to keep him from walking off, "I beg of you, do not let him die" falling on her knees she held onto his feet and placed her head at his feet
- "How do you know my blood type and how are you so sure that your son has the same blood type as me?"
- Anabelle whimpered, her whole body was shaking as she sobbed heavily, she could feel the curious stares of those in the hospital but that wasn't her problem, her priority now is to save her son's life
- "I should be on my way if you have no answer to my question" Hazel said coldly and tried to untangle his foot from her clutch
- "... because he is your son" she yelled and Hazel stilled, slowly he stared down at the woman at his feet
- "Is this some kind of joke? I don't even know you"
- Melvin's monitor suddenly started beeping
- "Ma'am, it's now or never" the doctor said urgently and Anabelle gazed at Hazel desperately
- "Please save him, he is your son"
- A second ticked by, then two, without a word, Hazel retraced his heel and walked towards the doctor, "I'll be his donor".
- Anabelle almost fainted with relief and she slowly stood up from where she was kneeling down, turning, she bumped into Joelle.
- Joelle's eyes ran over her from her head to her foot and Anabelle immediately grew self conscious, what was she supposed to say to Hazel's fiancee?
- "Hey, hi" she murmured nervously and made to move past her but Joelle plaster a smile on her face and grabbed her arm
- "What the hell did you mean when you said that child was his? What are you trying to pull?" She asked icily
- Anabelle winced as Joelle's fingers dug into her flesh
- "I...I... don't know what you're talking about" she whispered and forcefully pulled her arms away from Joelle's grip and fled
- When her son recovers, she will think of a way out of this mess.

- Anabelle didn't dare go inside Melvin's room as the transfusion was being made, she was so scared of staying close to Hazel
- She stood up from where she was seated when she saw the doctor go in and disconnected the wires in Hazel's body, they had gotten enough blood from him.
- Her heart thudded heavily when she watched him come out from the room, she must not let him see her and so she turned on her heels and ran the opposite way.
- She could see him walking in her direction and she ran even faster. She was scared of what he would do, she saw a small room just beside her and she quickly ran in there and hid beside the door.
- The door opened but no one stepped in, her heart was beating frantically and she held her breath and closed her eyes. Just when she thought that she would collapse from the tension, she heard his phone ring and he retraced his steps to answer whoever was calling.
- She almost wept in relief as she watched him leave before she sneaked out from the room and ran back to her child's room.

- Hazel walked swiftly towards his car as he answered his call, "What is it Leon?"
- "Sir, lady De Valle asked to see you"
- Hazel swallowed and his brow knitted, "I am busy Leon, I will see her when I have time"
- There was a slight pause on the other end, "I know how busy you are Sir but no one could calm her down, she kept insisting that you see her"
- "I'm on my way" he ended the call and entered his car
- "Drive me to De Valle's mansion" he instructed his driver.
- His mind kept running to the boy in the hospital who he has just learnt was his son, he stared at his assistant seated in front of the car
- "Nath, what would you do if you find out suddenly that you have a son with a woman that you don't even remember her face?"
- Nath eyes widened, "I don't know what to believe boss, could it be that the woman is lying? Perhaps the blood match could be a coincidence"
- Hazel's mouth tightened at the thought that someone would try to make a fool out of him, "take this sample and run a DNA test"
- "What if he turns out to be your son? What will you do?"
- "I'll make sure I take him away, he deserves to be with me and grow up as a De Valle"
- Hazel stood in front of De Valle's mansion and his heart grew cold, this house held a lot of ugly memories for him that he tries to forget, slowly, he stepped inside to see his mother waiting for him just my the door
- Lady De Valle was seated on a wheelchair and in her late fifties, she is known to be a very strict woman with quick temper and is reputably known as the lady shark
- "What took you so long? How could you abandon your mother this way and not even make an effort to see me?" Lady De Valle snapped as soon as he got in
- "I'm sorry mother, I was busy"
- "A son is not supposed to abandon his mother, no matter what or have you forgotten that I am in this wheelchair because of you?"
- Hazel's mouth tightened slightly at the remainder, that was something he wouldn't dare forget as his mother always reminds him how she ended up in a wheelchair because of his carelessness and as a result of that, he tries as much as possible to make her happy because he owes her his life.
- "I won't ever forget how you ended up there and I'm sorry if I am being an irresponsible son again" he replied coldly.
- Lady De Valle clucked her tongue, "come, I have something to show you".
- Lady De Valle brought out some pictures of beautiful ladies, "I want to show you these, ain't they beautiful? They all came from reputable background also, you can pick any of them and marry, any one of them will be happy to be your wife"
- Hazel made no attempt to even glance at the picture and he stared at his mother disapprovingly "I have a girlfriend already"
- "But you ain't going to marry her right? You told me so" she retorted
- "I do not plan to marry anyone, neither do I plan to fall in love with any"
- "Even if you do not fall in love, you have to get married, I need an heir or do you want De Valle's legacy to die with you?"
- "If what you want is an heir, I could give you that without getting married, just hang on a bit and you'll get an heir"
- Hazel stood up and walked out of the house he hated so much but had no choice, his mind traveled to the little boy he just gave his blood and who could be his son, if what his mother wants is an heir, he will give that to her.
