Chapter 48

  • Timi's POV:
  • I stumbled into my room, the door slamming shut behind me, the sound echoing like a gunshot in my head. My legs gave out, and I sank onto the bed, tears streaming down my face, hot and unstoppable. The weight of Adrian’s words crushed me, his threats ringing in my ears—“I’ll kill you and that kid, and no one will ever find a trace of you.” I clutched my stomach, my hands trembling, whispering to myself through sobs, “I don’t want to kill you, baby. I don’t want to.”
  • The room spun around me, a blur of gray walls and dim light, my chest heaving with every ragged breath. I reached for the bottle of tequila on my nightstand, my fingers shaking as I twisted off the cap. The first swig burned my throat, sharp and bitter, matching the pain inside me. I tipped it back again, gulping it down, the heat spreading through my chest, numbing the edges of my fear but not the ache.
