Chapter 8
- 【Sunna's POV】
- I knew Caroline looked down on me from the bottom of her heart. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so arrogant in front of me before. So when it was her turn to apologize to me, I deliberately didn't respond.
- I wanted her to know that I could easily crush her pride under my feet, and she couldn't do anything about it.
- But when I saw her about to transform into a wolf, I chose to stop. After all, Grand Master Calvin had stood up for me, and I didn't want to escalate the situation and make things difficult for him. I had mentioned before that Lycan Viserys had established a strict set of operating rules for the empire, including very strict legal constraints. Transforming into a wolf and starting a fight in public would attract an investigation from the Order Committee.
- "Thank you, Grand Master Calvin, for clearing my name."
- I expressed my sincere gratitude to Grand Master Calvin.
- "It's nothing, just a small favor."
- Grand Master Calvin smiled and told me, "By the way, a project we worked on together before has been put into production. There will be an exhibition soon, and you can go take a look. After all, it's also your research achievement."
- At this moment, a familiar figure appeared in my sight, the new Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, Soren.
- "Oh, Soren is here. Let me introduce you..."
- Grand Master Calvin briefly introduced me and Soren to each other.
- "Hello, Alpha Soren, nice to see you again."
- I reached out my hand to Soren.
- I was grateful for his help at the Hall of Heroes.
- Soren remained as cold as ever, simply nodded, and said to Grand Master Calvin, "Grand Master Calvin, let's go eat first."
- Grand Master Calvin waved to me and walked towards the restaurant with Soren.
- "Sunna, you actually attended the Empire's top engineering school? Why didn't you ever tell me!"
- Simon walked up, sounding displeased.
- Obviously, losing face in front of Grand Master Calvin had made him very unhappy.
- "You've never been interested in my past!"
- I told Simon coldly.
- "Your family..."
- Simon glanced at Layla, "Is it really as powerful as she said? Then why hasn't anyone from your former Pack come looking for you all this time?"
- I felt ironic. Before, Simon thought I was useless, and when I wanted to tell him about these things, he didn't want to listen. But now that he realized I was more capable than he imagined, he showed a strong desire to know more.
- I was disgusted by this utilitarian behavior and said coldly, "That doesn't matter."
- Simon frowned, showing his displeasure towards me.
- Then I heard a cold snort, Caroline walked up and said, "No need to ask, she's just pretending to be strong. If her family is really powerful and she graduated from the Empire's top engineering school, how could she end up relying on the Sky Pack to survive?"
- "I think she only got into the Empire's top engineering school by luck!"
- Caroline was obviously still resentful from being humiliated by me earlier, and now she wanted to save face by belittling me. Simon seemed to believe her.
- After a moment, Simon shook his head, "Anyway, since you know Grand Master Calvin, then..."
- Before he could finish his sentence, gunshots suddenly rang out in the restaurant, followed by screams.
- Simon roughly pushed me aside and then lunged to protect Caroline, shielding her underneath him.
- In this moment of danger, he didn't even spare a glance for me, his Mate of three years. It was all about Caroline. That's when I realized how right it was to leave this man.
- Seemingly aware of his inappropriate behavior, Simon looked at me, "Sorry, Sunna..."
- I didn't look at him anymore. Instead, I turned to where the gunshots had come from and saw three gunmen. One was pointing a gun at Soren, while the other two were aiming at the guards from the Blood Moon Pack who had rushed in from outside.
- They shouted, "Nobody move! Or your Alpha will die here!"
- The Blood Moon Pack guards were anxious, raising their guns loaded with silver bullets that were deadly to werewolves, but no one dared to make a move.
- In contrast, Soren, facing a life-threatening situation, remained surprisingly calm—even though his arm was bleeding from a gunshot.
- "Your aim is terrible. At this close range, you only hit my arm."
- This guy was truly a madman, provoking the gunman even in such a situation!
- The gunman pointing the gun at him was enraged, shouting, "You damn bastard! Your Blood Moon Pack has caused my family's ruin. I will make you pay with blood!"
- "If that's the case, then shoot."
- Soren said calmly, and he even approached the gunman, "Too far to hit before? How about now? Can you hit me now?"
- As he finished speaking, his forehead was almost touching the muzzle of the gun.
- This scene left me speechless, even the trigger-happy gunmen were momentarily stunned.
- "You're a complete lunatic, you..."
- "No more nonsense, just shoot! Aren't you here to kill me? Are you afraid? If you can't even kill, what else can you do? You useless piece of crap!"
- Soren said, then suddenly erupted, lightning-fast grabbing the gun from the other person's hand, instantly snatching it away.
- The other two gunmen, seeing this, immediately turned their guns towards Soren, ready to shoot.
- Seeing this, my instinctive reaction kicked in, I snatched a gun from the hand of a Blood Moon Pack guard, raised my hand and fired two shots.
