Chapter 5
- 【Sunna's POV】
- I put my few belongings in the car and drove to Hunterston Hall of Heroes.
- I decided to temporarily store my parents' ashes here, and when Simon and I completely broke up, I would bring them back to our hometown for burial.
- From a distance, I saw many people gathered in front of the Hall of Heroes, with many enforcers from the Order Committee forming a circle around the hall, keeping unrelated people out.
- Only some high-end cars were allowed in after showing something, and from those cars came out dignified individuals, clearly noble werewolves, walking into the Hall of Heroes.
- "Why are there so many cars? So many important figures. Did someone extraordinary pass away?"
- "Haven't you seen the news? It's Alpha Marcus-Chris of the Blood Moon Pack who passed away. They are going to hold a memorial ceremony later!"
- "Oh my god! The Blood Moon Pack is a powerful pack second only to the royal family! Who will take over the leadership of the Blood Moon Pack now that Alpha Marcus is gone?"
- "Other than that lunatic Soren-Chris, who else could it be?"
- "Watch your mouth! If he hears you, you're dead!"
- As I got out of the car and approached, I heard many people discussing, and finally understood what was going on.
- A black-robed enforcer noticed me trying to squeeze in and stopped me with a hand: "Only those with an invitation to the ceremony can enter, others are not allowed in!"
- I said to him, "I just want to store my parents' ashes."
- He glanced at the urn in my hand, saw the flag on top, looked hesitant, but ultimately shook his head, "I'm sorry, you'll have to wait until the ceremony is over."
- At that moment, a black car stopped beside me, the back window rolled down, and a voice came from inside the car, "With the flag on top, that must be a warrior who sacrificed for the country. Let her in."
- The voice was calm, yet filled with undeniable authority and dominance. When it sounded, the noisy crowd seemed to freeze - it was absolute awe.
- My wolf Diana immediately sent me a dangerous warning, proving that the person was an extremely dangerous presence.
- I looked at the owner of that voice: dressed in all black, with a strong and angular face, and a pair of sharp eyes like a hawk.
- These are a pair of beautiful yet aggressive eyes, the kind of calm aggression that suggests their owner naturally reigns supreme over everything.
- I quickly recognized the "madman" that everyone around me had been talking about: Soren-Chris.
- I had heard some ridiculous things about this young top noble, so I was just as surprised as everyone else by the kindness he showed.
- "Thank you."
- I thanked him and expressed my condolences for his loss, then entered the Hall of Heroes.
- Guided by the staff, I found a quiet spot to store my parents' ashes.
- "Mom, Dad, please wait a little longer. I will soon take you back to our hometown. Then, I will find my brother and pay our respects together."
- I gently touched the urn, whispering to my parents.
- Yes, I have a brother, a warrior who disappeared five years ago during a mission on the border and has been missing ever since.
- Over the years, I have tried to find out about him through various channels, but to no avail. After burying my parents, I plan to head to the border to search for my brother.
- He is the only family I have left in this world.
- Since I didn't have a place to stay temporarily, I contacted my best friend Layla.
- Upon hearing about my situation, this young lady from the noble Beta family was furious: "After treating you like that, they actually tried to force you to leave using your parents' ashes? And Simon insisted on doing such a ridiculous thing!? This family is simply pure animals!"
- Compared to Simon's family, Layla was more aware of my role in the Sky Pack and Sky Group: "That nonsense Sky Pack Alpha, now he's all high and mighty. But once you really leave, he'll realize he's nothing without you! Damn it! Simon and that bitch Caroline, they will end up in a miserable state sooner or later!"
- After cursing for a while, she hugged me tightly: "I'm sorry about your parents, but don't be too sad. I think they would want you to be happy. Let's go, being single again is a good thing. We should celebrate. I'll cover all the expenses today!"
- Layla is truly a great friend—especially compared to Simon's family. Throughout the day, she took me to all the high-end stores, splurged on buying me lots of clothes and accessories, and then took me to a fancy restaurant for dinner.
- We had just sat down when we heard laughter from the table behind us, and my name was mentioned.
- "Alpha Simon, shouldn't you break up with that Sunna? How can someone like her have the audacity to occupy the Luna position in the Sky Pack?"
- "Yeah, if it weren't for you giving her a bite to eat, she would have starved long ago. Only someone like Caroline, born noble and incredibly talented as a werewolf, deserves the Luna position in the Sky Pack. What qualifications does Sunna have to compare with Caroline?"
- "We're all waiting for Alpha Simon to unite with his true soulmate and invite us to the wedding, haha!"
- The tables in this restaurant were well spaced apart, and Layla and I were sitting with our backs to that side, so the people at the table behind us didn't notice us.
- Of course, even if they had noticed, I think they would have said the same thing, because I recognized one of the voices as belonging to Charlie, a friend whom Simon trusted a lot - Charlie never respected me.
- Layla had a hot temper, and upon hearing those words, she was so angry that she gritted her teeth and slammed the table, ready to confront them.
- Diana was also restless inside me, saying, "It's time to teach these despicable guys a lesson!"
- I stopped Layla, saying, "They're talking about me, I'll handle it myself!"
- With that, I stood up, took my glass, and walked over to Simon's table: "You just mentioned wanting to toast to Simon and Caroline's wedding. No need to wait, I'll treat you all now. Cheers!"
- As soon as I said that, the lively atmosphere instantly fell silent.
