Chapter 28

• ELOISE
• I don't think I've ever had a vivid dream. Dreams to Eloise Carter were a rare experience. Nightmares and terrors of the night were more of my forte but being completely aware of my actions in a dream was new to me. A wise person once said by embracing your subconscious, you gained a different way of seeing and experiencing. An expanded doorway that explored hidden vices of oneself. I had half expected tonight to be riddled with horrible replays of that unfortunate night but there I was having a heart to heart with Matthan. He looked real. He looked flesh and bone but I knew this was a dream. Since it was nothing but a dream, I didn't hold back. I said every word that lingered at the back of my mind. Things I didn't think I had the guts to say in front of Matthan Gardenia when I finally woke up from this moment. Once I said it all, I left it all. I figured the only way to end the dream was to walk back through the door I had used to come in. I closed my eyes walking through, half expecting to rouse to life but none of that occurred. Instead, I stepped into my room. Weird as it was, I didn't question it. I returned to my bed and lay down closing my eyes again. My epiphany didn't matter. Nor how I felt. Nothing had changed. My chest still felt tight and my breathing quickened when I thought of him. In the darkness of tightly shut eyes, I saw him. His smile. His hair. His beautiful face. Every last detail. I believe I slept with the mental picture of Matthan Gardenia engraved in my mind. Weird right? I believed this was the work of my wolf but she was not chipping in words into my head or taunting me. There was also the possibility that wolves couldn't invade dreams.
• The timeframe in which I spent trying to wake was long because I didn't seem to rouse to the waking world no matter how I tried. On top of that, my bedroom door suddenly flew open causing me to jump out of my skin.
