Chapter 9 Your Boyfriend Is Such A Chicken

• A few weeks later after James was enjoying a comfortable life with the power of the system, one afternoon he decided to go out for a cup of coffee in a new setting.
• Just as the coffee was being served. He saw a couple walk into the café, hand in hand.
• "Wow, what a busy day in the city. I didn't expect to see him again." Sofia spoke to her new boyfriend, Max, but James could clearly hear it as an insinuation.
• Max smiled briefly as he glanced at James. Meanwhile, James glanced at Sofia. The woman was quite eye-catching with her luxurious and elegant appearance.
• "I'm not sure he has enough money to pay." Max whispered to Sofia then the two of them chuckled together.
• Sofia and Max walked to find a table for them. Coincidentally crossing James, Sofia without hesitation said, "James, I hope you're not lost here."
• James just smiled and replied calmly, "I've been lost to the wrong woman. It doesn't apply to choosing a cafe."
• Sofia was surprised by James' answer. She was annoyed. "You mean, I'm the wrong person?"
• James did not answer. At the very least, being betrayed while he still loved Sofia was proof that he had made the wrong choice.
• Max pulled Sofia away. "Never mind, we don't have to deal with him. It could be a consolation for him to drink at a fancy cafe before he dies."
• Sofia grinned. "You're right."
• They then left, James going back to enjoying his coffee.
• [System: Danger threat detected]
• James opened his cell phone to check more details of the danger in question.
• [System: The shop in front was robbed, the robbers will have a shootout with the police, they will hide in the cafe.]
• The information from the system was half-assed, like a code.
• James checked the time.
• [System: in 10 minutes, armed robbers will enter.]
• Soon a commotion was heard. People in the cafe looked out the window.
• "There's a jewelry store robbery across the street!" One person exclaimed exactly what the system warned. The originally calm atmosphere turned tense in an instant.
• The tension in the air was so palpable that Sofia was terrified.
• "Max, how is this?" she asked.
• "Take it easy Sof, the police will take care of it and we'll be safe," Max said.
• The people in the cafe began to panic, fearing that the robbery would spread to the cafe.
• [System: Armed robbers are on their way. Decide whether to save yourself or fight.]
• [System: You can choose your strength and armor]
• [System: Steel body protection costs 1000 god points. Strength moves are priced at 2000 god points].
• James smiled slightly. "My god points aren't even up to that!"
• James preferred to leave. As he stepped out of the cafe, James was bumped by Sofia who was in a hurry.
• "You idiot!" she said. "If you want to die, die alone at the hands of that robber!"
• Max, who was in a hurry, pulled Sofia to get out before the robber entered. However, before he could get out, a gunshot rang out and several people scattered.
• "Get down, all of you!" The sound of gunfire into the air broke the crystal chandelier in the cafe mixed with the screams of visitors.
• [System: danger detected!]
• James sighed. Then he had no choice.
• James activated the body shield. He didn't need to fight just needed to let the police arrest them.
• "Ah, help!" Sofia who was staring at the scene was suddenly pulled by one of the robbers.
• "Hey, let go of Sofia!" shouted Max.
• "How dare you?" Max was held at gunpoint making him dare not say anything anymore.
• "Max, help me!" Sofia pleaded.
• "Shut up!" The robber pointed a gun at Max scaring the man.
• James had activated the body protection shield. However, whether it was working properly or not he didn't know yet.
• Sofia was dragged to be used as a shield. James was quite sorry for the woman because she was so scared that her face was as pale as a corpse.
• Now, James thought to himself should he save Sofia or just leave it until the police acted.
• James looked at Sofia who was scared, then his gaze turned to Max who chose to hide unable to do anything.
• Meanwhile, Sofia continues to look at Max with eyes full of hope and fear, begging him to save her. Max, who felt helpless, could only look at Sofia guiltily.
• "You suck!" James muttered.
• James took a deep breath, then ran towards the robbers with his newly activated body armor shield, hoping that it would be strong enough to protect him.
• James' action made the two robbers at the back lose concentration and they reflexively pointed their weapons at James.
• However, it was to no avail as James had used the protection from the system. Then, he deftly punched a robber who was pointing a gun at Sofia.
• Sofia bounced and then she was almost hit with the gun again, James quickly told the woman to duck.
• James pulled up a table to protect them. Screams from terrified patrons filled the room.
• James picked up a glass and threw it at one of the gunmen in the right corner. It made his gun fall. Then, James picked up a second glass and threw it at his head. One man was incapacitated though not seriously injured.
• James had a plan. He would disrupt the concentration of the robbers until the police surrounded them. At least the system had confirmed that this check would be active for 24 hours. So, he could feel safe.
• Sofia took cover behind James. Dozens of bullets seemed to have rained down on them.
• "James, do something you want me to die here at the hands of those stupid robbers!" Sofia grumbled.
• James scowled. Wasn't Max much more stupid and painted for the moment as he could do nothing but just hide.
• The police came they were surrounded. Tear bombs had to be thrown into the cafe. Smoke billowed up the eyes of everyone who was there were stinging. Except for the police and James.
• The robbers were taken down. They were taken away and it was safe.
• James realized that because of his actions he had damaged the items in the cafe. So, he went to one of the employees and confirmed that he would replace it.
• "No, Sir." One of the men who turned out to be the manager there refused to be compensated. "You've helped us and that woman to stay safe. You don't need to think about the damage."
• "Really?" James wanted to confirm once again.
• "Yes, I did." The manager answered without hesitation.
• Max approached Sofia. He only appeared after everything was safe.
• "Sofia, are you okay?" he asked.
• At first, James thought that after finding out who his girlfriend turned out to be a coward Sofia would be angry, but instead she answered spoiled and also rushed to hug Max.
• "Max, I was so scared earlier," Sofia complained.
• Max patted Sofia's shoulder. "It's okay, Sofia, at least you're safe now."
• "Yeah!" James chimed in lazily overhearing their conversation. "Of course she's safe because all the robbers have been chased away."
• Sofia said sarcastically. "James, you can't be jealous of Max. If Max can't act rashly it's because he's the son of a director at a famous hospital which means his life is precious. He can't afford to get hurt."
• "Max has a good reason why he should take care of himself," Sofia concluded.
• James just rolled his eyes. Sofia's point was that James was a worthless person, just a piece of trash in her eyes who, even if he died, she didn't care about.
• "Well then, may you be happy with a man like this!"
• Sofia rounded her eyes. She wanted to slap James. However, the man had already walked away and he actually managed to humiliate Sofia.
