• The elevator doors slid open with a chime. Jared and I stepped inside without a word and also without an additional person. The doors closed with a soft hiss, sealing us together and alone in this uncomfortable space.
• Even though this elevator appeared built to carry more than two persons, the space felt cramped like a small airtight box just enough to trap the two of us, and the air seemed somewhat suffocating.
