Chapter 5 He lied?

  • Somewhere in the palace
  • Daniel was training with the guards in the training ground, not that he needed to but With his personality training was something he could never stop doing.
  • "Arghhhhh" he jumped up and landed a sword blow on his opponent causing the opponent to fall down hard
  • This was the last opponent he was fighting today.
  • Timothy came to his side and gave him a big napkin to wipe off his sweat.
  • "How did the investigation go," Daniel asked him
  • "You were right, even after sending someone after him, we found his dead body at the entrance of the forest this morning.
  • "Those fucking rogues" he gritted " that only means they have a backing here in the capital" Daniel knew it was probably that, because how could rogues have so much access in a kingdom that they were banned from, They were even able to send in a letter to his palace. Then it only meant they had someone helping them.
  • "Yes they do, Two of the rogues recently used a bar in the capital, and the bar attendant was silenced which proves your theory right" Timothy was not surprised they had a backing in fact he already suspected that but he wanted to be sure and now that Daniel brought it up it was definitely that. Daniel didn't reply him and changed the discussion.
  • "Did you send her home safely" Daniel was referring to Liliana, he remembered her, he took note of her appearance when he saw her earlier this morning
  • Her dark brown-colored hair was attractive and her slender body that fit in her shape joining with her lemon green eyes that spoke of calmness. He might have seen and slept with a lot of ladies but he has never been moved by their beauty like he was with Liliana's own.
  • "Yes, I did" Timothy replied, Daniel didn't react to it and started walking out of the training ground " Are you ready for today's court session those ministers might bring up your mate issue again" Timothy informed him. Daniel smirked and it surprised timothy, whenever mate was being mentioned Daniel would always get angry but now he didn't look angry
  • "Speaking of mate I think I have found one" he smiled 'he has found his mate' Timothy was shocked
  • "You found your mate?" He asked him but as expected Daniel didn't reply him and chuckled
  • "Send in a special invitation to our injured lady's family for the ball, tell them it's an act of appreciation," he said that and left timothy's side
  • Timothy was just so shocked today, Daniel was acting strange today. first, he was not angry when he mentioned 'mate' and now he said he had found his mate. He even wants to send a special invitation to Liliana's family for the upcoming ball in two days time.
  • The ball was a general yearly grand ball and everyone was invited so the special invitation was not needed. Giving her one meant she was a special guest and will be treated special alongside her family.
  • In Mrs. Micheal's house
  • Liliana was about to break down. What was all this that was happening to her, she was shot, now her dream husband is engaged and finally, her best friend was her dream husband's fiancee.
  • Could her life ever get worse than it was right now?
  • "I am going to kill that boy" Mrs. Michael didn't know who Jeremy's fiancee was so she was just as shocked as Liliana was
  • "Mama, did you know ?" Liliana asked her mum
  • "No I only knew he had a fiancee," Mrs. Micheal said, it was normal for Stephen to know since he had friends and he goes to music classes which were hosted by Susan's family.
  • Susan was also from a rich family but she mostly quarreled with her family, Liliana pitied her and made friends with her, that was how they became best of friends.
  • Who could have imagined her best friend marrying her dream husband?
  • Liliana stood up and left the house, she was going to confirm if what Stephen said was true.
  • Thankfully she met Susan on her way to her house.
  • Susan was a beautiful lady, She had long black hair and she was gifted with a good shape, She was the definition of what a lady should be but Liliana was a carefree type she never minded dressing anyhow, she loved her freedom.
  • Susan was waiting for Jeremy they planned to meet her parents today because Susan's parents wanted Jeremy to be more familiar with Jeremy little did they know that Susan knew Jeremy but they were not close.
  • "Susan" Liliana called out when she reached her side
  • Susan felt guilty when she saw Liliana looking at her with anger and betrayal in her eyes
  • "Hey Lili, how have you been" she faked a smile
  • Liliana was not here to play friends so she asked her " Is it true that you are Jeremy's fiancee?"
  • Susan knew this day would come but she didn't know it would be this hard
  • " I am sorry Liliana, I am his fiancee" she replied with her head down
  • "What are you sorry for, you knew about what I have for Jeremy, I thought we were best friends" Liliana queried her
  • "I know but I liked Jeremy first Lili I just didn't want to tell you because you were always Jeremy this Jeremy that, did you ever think of how I felt or if I also had someone I liked" she talked facing Liliana directly this time around
  • Liliana felt stabbed, she truly never thought of who her friend liked and that was because she didn't want to be a bad person, why ask her friend if she had someone she liked when she does not like anyone, it was like mocking her so she was waiting for Susan to tell her and she could never have guessed that her best friend likes the guy she also likes.
  • " I didn't do all those because I didn't want to be a bad friend but turns out you already had me in mind before" she defended herself
  • Susan already wanted to say all these before and now she had the chance
  • "Yes I did, Jeremy was always giving you all the attention and treating me like I didn't exist, I had nothing to do with our marriage until I found out who my parents paired me with, I felt guilty because he was someone my best friend liked but I also wanted to be happy for once so I accepted to marry him" Susan explained
  • " I can't believe you are lying now, you don't look guilty," Liliana told her
  • "I don't care what you think about me Liliana this is the first time my parents did something good for me and I won't let it go" Susan was no longer feeling guilty since her friend didn't understand her but again who would understand someone snatching who they love.
  • Just then Jeremy arrived. He saw Susan and Liliana conversing and knew it was not a friendly conversation from their reactions.
  • "Go in first" Jeremy told Susan when he reached their side, Susan wanted to protest but she left their side.
  • Liliana didn't even know what to say to Jeremy after a while she asked
  • "Do you love her?" "Why are you here?" He didn't answer her question
  • Liliana scoffed " you don't want my presence now that you have gotten a fiancee"
  • "Liliana I would appreciate it if you don't approach Susan again or try to confront her, I was the one who wanted to marry her so she has no fault in it," Jeremy told her plainly, the person he liked is not Susan but he is marrying her for a reason and he didn't mind receiving Liliana's hatred.
  • Liliana couldn't believe what Jeremy was saying, he was defending Susan right in front of her
  • "I will if you answer just this one question" she was not ready to accept to his request until she was sure of this
  • "Sure what is it," he asked her
  • Liliana swallowed hard from what was about to come out of her mouth
  • "Did you ever like me?" She asked him
  • Jeremy wanted to say yes a thousand times but he couldn't, if he did then all his plans will fail.
  • All his revenge plans and his resentment will crash
  • "No, I didn't!"
