• I checked my bank app, my fingers trembling as I held my phone, my heart racing with anticipation. When I saw that my account balance was indeed $0, my racing heart almost jumped out of my chest. No! This was real! I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. How and where do I start from? What would I tell my sister? She was counting on me. I also remembered that I wouldn't be getting my salary until the end of the month, which was still weeks away. Shit!
• Do I beg Lorenzo for an advance payment? But first, I needed to report this to the police. Still crying, I started heading down to the nearest police station, my mind a jumble of emotions and thoughts. I felt helpless, but I knew I had to take action.
