Chapter 1061 Ask Me
- Fallon
- Cathy and her comrades hustle me down a shaded manor-lined street that butts the wall of what I believe is the castle full of deranged lunatics where I nearly had my tongue cut out yesterday, but the wall is insanely steep, and high above, spires twist toward a perfect blue, cloudless sky. It must be twenty degrees colder down here in the shadows. My skin prickles as the women close around me, forming a strategic triangle of bodies to keep me from being seen by wandering eyes, but there’s no one out and about. The street is quiet, as is the city beyond. Gray flags flap in a gentle, ocean-scented breeze, but no children play, and music doesn’t lift above the hustle and bustle of a normal morning in a city this size.
- No guards stand at their posts along the wall, where Cathy raps on a large wooden door. Which is promptly, but silently, answered by one of the men I recognize from last night.
