Chapter 26 The Last Option

• Selene's POV
• A month had passed since Lyra was poisoned. A month since I'd believed her condition would finally make Rowan realize that he needed someone else beside him. I had thought that seeing her helpless would make him understand that she could no longer be the Luna this pack needed. I had thought he would eventually become tired of waiting for her to recover and turn his attention back to me. I was wrong. Nothing had worked.
• I'd tried everything I could think of. I'd touched Rowan romantically whenever we were alone, hoping he would finally respond to me the way I wanted. I'd dressed provocatively around him, making sure he noticed me. I'd even gone to his room half-naked, hoping that seeing me that way would awaken the feelings I had been waiting years for. But Rowan remained the same. He never crossed the line with me. He never gave me the reaction I wanted.
