Chapter 25 Weight Of The Past
- Lyra's POV
- A month had passed. Four weeks of treatments. Four weeks of herbs, potions, massages, and exercises. Four weeks of waking up every morning with the same small hope that maybe, just maybe, today would be different. It never was. I still couldn't move my legs, and my hands remained weak and almost useless. Even the simplest things had become difficult. Sometimes I couldn't hold a cup properly, and sometimes my fingers would barely respond when I tried to move them. Every morning, I woke up hoping to feel something different, and every night, I went to sleep disappointed.
- At first, I had been patient. I told myself healing took time. Mira had warned me that my body had been through too much and that I couldn't expect everything to return overnight. I believed her. Then days became weeks, and the weeks became a month. Nothing changed. Eventually, the hope began turning into anger. I hated my body for betraying me. I hated the weakness. I hated needing someone to help me do things I had once done without thinking. But most of all, I hated myself.
