Chapter 49

  • It had been a little over a week until we heard from Dakarai again, and by that time we had already returned to our home- now the capital. Grandpa Aaron and Cerys haven’t left my side since our last discussion with Dakarai, the two always hovering nearby on the lookout for suspicious activity. Between them and Kanjax, who was always a step behind, I felt absolutely cornered.
  • Being surrounded by people was annoying, and that was putting it lightly. The constant feeling of being followed, whether or not it was for my safety, grated on my nerves to no end. It made me self-conscious and always on edge, as though someone was going to jump out and attack me at any moment. A feeling that anyone would hate to haunt them.
  • “Any news?” I questioned, agitatedly, as I sat at my desk with my fingertips tapping away constantly at the wooden desktop.
