Chapter 20

• Night had fallen, and a restlessness shifted throughout the air. Over the past few hours my army slowly but surely began to gather outside of the priestess’ home. The wolves stood while murmuring lowly amongst themselves, the restlessness stemming from their eagerness to battle. I waited inside, lounging on a leather couch as I waited for Alexei to bring me Amere.
• Once again my phone buzzed, Kanjax calling for what seemed to be the twelfth time. I ignored it, leaving it to buzz on the coffee table until it cut off itself. Not in any mood to speak to Kanjax, or to hear his explanations. The call that I had with him earlier still grated on my nerves, my mood souring further the longer I had only my thoughts for company.
• Wicked thoughts swirled in my mind as I recalled the woman who called out to my mate. It had been just a moment, but that one moment led me to decisively hate her. If I ever saw her in person the results would definitely end horribly, for her.
