  • “She told.”
  • The clattering of silverware came to a stop, everyone pausing to look up at Grandpa Aaron. We were in a cafeteria of sorts, located nestled within the compound. Kanjax sat beside me, the two of us with plates piled high with meat. Every once in a while he would pause and move some of his food over to my plate, as if to ensure I would have plenty of the hearty meal.
  • Cerys sat across from us, nothing set out before her. Sitting down to have a meal with her made something about her obvious; the fact that I hadn’t seen her eat a single thing, much less have a drink, since we’ve met. It was a curious thing, and a trait that seemed hers alone rather than that of a sorcerer. Grandpa Aaron always did like to eat his fill.
