Chapter 7 : Why did she do this?

  • Lin Wancheng thought she got into the company through a regular interview process, but others knew that she was personally appointed by the CEO.
  • Xingchen Group had strict regulations, and every position required multiple assessments. Naturally, the employees who were hired were hostile towards her as an outsider.
  • Even though her colleagues didn't openly confront her, they would secretly laugh and gossip in front of her, clearly excluding her as a newcomer.
  • But she knew that as a newcomer, she couldn't cause trouble. If she wanted to keep this job, she could only swallow her pride.
  • Busy until lunchtime, Shen Sichen received a call from home, ordering him to come back today.
  • After avoiding it for so many days, it wouldn't hurt to go back and see what kind of woman his family had found for him.
  • "CEO, are you leaving? There are reporters waiting to interview you outside, should we take the stairs instead?"
  • As the heir of the Shen family who had never appeared in public, there were people who went to extreme lengths just to catch a glimpse of his true face. Shen Sichen was used to it.
  • Just as he entered the stairwell, he heard a sweet and bright voice say, "Today went smoothly! The work couldn't faze me at all. Our boss? He's really nice, young and elegant. He even invited me to his office for tea."
  • During lunchtime, Lin Wancheng avoided her colleagues and hid in the empty stairwell to give her grandmother a call to let her know she was safe.
  • Her grandmother worried about her and asked about everything in detail.
  • "Well, I have to go back to work now, bye bye, Grandma!"
  • After hanging up the phone, Lin Wancheng couldn't help but burst into tears.
  • Fortunately, she managed to hold back her tears just now and didn't let her grandmother hear her sobbing.
  • Behind her, Shen Sichen, the good boss who was rumored to be "young and elegant, inviting for tea," silently watched the girl crouching in the corner, trembling like a fragile little creature.
  • Shen Sichen's eyes deepened. This girl was lying to her grandmother, and in reality, she was having a tough day.
  • Why did she do this?
  • Shen Sichen had no intention of eavesdropping on other people's phone calls. He just happened to overhear those few sentences. After taking a quick glance at the small figure, he turned and went downstairs with his assistant.
  • Before she could even dry her tears, Lin Wancheng's phone rang again.
  • It was her supposed mother-in-law, Song Xinlan, calling her to come back.
  • "But I'm at work..."
  • "My son has come to see you! You have half an hour to show up!"
  • Who cared about what she had to do? Song Xinlan hung up the phone without giving her a chance to explain.
  • Lin Wancheng had no choice but to take a leave and rush back to the old Shen family mansion. However, there was a car accident blocking the road, causing her to be almost an hour late.
  • As soon as she entered the house, Song Xinlan, who felt deceived, started scolding her, "You are so arrogant and disrespectful! You completely disregard our Shen family! How could the Lin family raise such a disrespectful girl like you?"
  • Although Lin Wancheng was reluctant to see her cheap husband, she did come as soon as possible.
  • "Auntie, I was at work during the day, and I rushed over as soon as I received your call. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the way..."
  • "That's enough! Always showing up in public, don't you know that our Shen family can afford you? Do you know how long my son waited for you?" Song Xinlan didn't give her a chance to explain at all.
  • She accused her of being disrespectful? At least she knew not to interrupt others while they were speaking.
  • "Then where is your son?"
  • Lin Wancheng ran out of patience. Since she was called back to meet him, she wanted to get it over with and quickly return to work.
  • Song Xinlan snorted coldly, "Of course, he has already left. Do you think my son would wait for you forever? Who do you think you are?"
  • Wasn't this a stroke of luck? Lin Wancheng almost burst out laughing.
  • Not having to see that unlucky man was the only happy thing today. She suddenly felt that enduring this scolding was worth it.
  • If Mrs. Shen was so difficult and harsh, her son must be a ruthless and evil person too. She didn't want to see him.
  • After bidding farewell to Song Xinlan, Lin Wancheng left happily.
