Chapter 3 : Awkwardness That Builds a Great Wall

  • "Chengcheng! You're here! Stop hugging that man and come hug your sister!"
  • Drunk Lan Xue was running around, and from a distance, she saw Lin Wancheng and shouted with a tongue out.
  • Lin Wancheng instantly snapped back to reality, broke free from the man's grasp, and rushed over to support the swaying Lan Xue.
  • "Alright, stop causing a scene and come home with me!" She dragged Lan Xue towards the exit.
  • Shen Sicen's gaze remained fixed on the woman who wore jeans and a loose T-shirt to the nightclub. He saw her struggling to support her friend and, for the first time, he kindly said, "I'll take you home."
  • What? He's going to take her home?
  • She dodged before he could even finish, lest he demanded compensation for her chin and pants.
  • "No need! Goodbye!"
  • Never want to see you again!
  • Lin Wancheng fled the scene without looking back.
  • "Sicen, what are you doing? Come drink with us! Weren't you just married last week? You're already eyeing other beauties so soon? Our Sicen truly deserves the title of the most charming playboy in the southern city!"
  • Friends teased him.
  • However, Shen Sicen narrowed his phoenix-like eyes and watched the woman's disappearing figure.
  • The next morning.
  • Lan Xue woke up with a hangover. When she entered the kitchen, she saw Lin Wancheng cooking cucumber and egg soup.
  • "My precious Cheng is the best! I love you more than anyone in the world!" She said as she hugged Lin Wancheng's waist.
  • Lin Wancheng didn't buy into her act and snorted, "Don't make me go out in the middle of the night to pick you up again, even if you really love me!"
  • Lan Xue stuck out her tongue, "It won't happen again! Did I make you late for your night shift?"
  • "I've already quit my job."
  • "Quit? Why? Weren't you working hard to earn money for Chen Junze's engagement gift?"
  • Lin Wancheng's eyes dimmed, "We've broken up."
  • "What...?" Lan Xue couldn't believe it. They had been in a relationship for so long, and they were even discussing marriage.
  • Lin Wancheng didn't want to talk about that scumbag anymore. She turned off the stove, walked out of the kitchen without looking back.
  • "We broke up, that's it! Love is bullshit, it only affects my money-making! From now on, my heart will only have my career, not men! The soup is ready for you, I've already eaten. I have to go out now, I have an important interview today!"
  • What's a breakup? Lin Wancheng was determined to start a new life full of vitality!
  • With her high education and good appearance, she received interview invitations for almost all the resumes she sent out.
  • The best one among them was the Star Chen Group, where she was going today.
  • Little did she know that the road was unusually congested today. When the taxi finally arrived, there were only a few minutes left until the agreed time.
  • All four elevators on one side of the lobby were packed with people.
  • On the other side, a separate elevator was descending to the first floor, and it seemed that someone had just entered as the doors were about to close.
  • "Please wait!" Lin Wancheng didn't care about her image and rushed into the elevator at the last moment before the doors closed, almost bumping into someone's arms.
  • "Sorry..." She looked up and saw the person's face clearly.
  • "Oh my god, why do I keep running into you!"
  • Lin Wancheng blurted out in surprise, without considering why this empty elevator had no one else inside.
  • Shen Sicen raised an eyebrow and looked at her with increasing interest, "Are you following me?"
  • "Ha... Do you have delusions of persecution? I'm here for an interview!"
  • An interview? Interesting.
  • Shen Sicen took a step forward, lifted the girl's delicate chin, and said, "Do you want to be accepted? Do you need my help?"
  • The elevator was small, and with just this step, Lin Wancheng leaned against the elevator door.
  • Is he trying to flirt with her... to secure her as a repeat customer?
  • She wasn't a lonely rich woman who would spend money on male models!
  • She pushed his hand away, "Brother, in accordance with the most basic professional ethics, even if we unfortunately meet again in the future, please pretend we don't know each other. Besides, we didn't really know each other, okay?"
  • Shen Sicen looked at her with a half-smile, "You were the one who started the conversation earlier."
  • Ah, that's true.
