Chapter 8 World Anger Day
- DONALD
- “Please, leave my way," I said to her, trying my best to keep my voice very low, in order not to create a scene, or draw unwanted attention our way.
- Tricia, crossed her arms over her chest, standing firm. "That's not going to happen.'’ She said without fear, looking at me straight in the eye.
- For goodness sake, is today world anger day for me?. It started with Avala going back to sleep after pooping, and it only got worse from there. She refused to wear the undies I had chosen for her this morning, and now she spilled food all over the restaurant. I'm fed up, and I don't need Tricia's attitude adding to it. "Avala, let's go," I said, turning towards another direction, since Tricia is standing in front of me.
- I know that Avala is sorry, but I just wanted to get out of there and go home. Looking at Tricia again, my eyes pleading with her to understand. “I'm sorry for everything that happened earlier, it wasn't our intention to cause you trouble. Please, continue with what you were doing, I and Avala would go home and I'll make something for the both of us to eat.'’
- “So why come here in the first place?'’ Tricia asked, using a softer tone than the one she used a while ago.
- I took a deep breathe, before I launched into explanations. "This morning, before we left the house, Avala refused to eat the pancake I made for her. I had to beg her before she agreed to eat little portion from it, I thought maybe she would like something from the restaurant since you're here, because she askes after you this morning.'’
- “Exactly, you see?, that's the main reason why you need to eat, I know you must be tired, and going home to cook will be another stress added to you." She said.
- Tricia's words had me thinking, she's actually saying the truth. I'm very tired, and going home to start cooking, is the last thing on my mind, I need some rest.
- She continued to persuade me. “Sir, think about it, you should have something to eat first even if you'll go home and prepare something, at least you need strength to do it.'’
- I looked at Avala, who was still sniffling with tear drops on her cheek, and then back at Tricia. Something about her words touched me, she's saying the truth and I sat back in my chair, while Tricia helped Avala to sit down. "Avala, apologize to your daddy.” She said.
- Avala looked up at me with her eyes that are still red from crying. "Daddy, I'm sorry.'’
- My baby is just a little girl and I know she didn't mean to cause any trouble, but when I put all the events of today together I feel exhausted. "It's okay, sweetie, always remember what I told you.'’
- '’Now that we're all good, What will you have?" Tricia asked, in a manner that's both friendly and inviting.
- I lacked what to say. The whole chaos that happened earlier took my mind far from food, eating is actually the last thing on my mind right now.
- I'm still contemplating on what to say, then Tricia smiled before taking the tray from the table. “I know exactly what you both need, hold on for a little while, I'll be back in no time.'’
- Do I have a choice right now?, whatever she brings will be fine with me I only fear for Avala who have food alergies. I'm impressed at how Tricia is showing us love despite everything that happened.
- As I looked at Avala, I could see that she was watching Tricia too, a small smile on her face. "Daddy I like mommy alot, she's nice to us.'’
- '’Indeed, she is. Let's hope she brings us something good."
- “Daddy, do you still love me?.'’ Avala asked resting her head to one side of her shoulder.
- Avala's apologetic face was too hard for me to resist, I lifted her into my arms and placed her head to rest on my shoulder and I began to pat her back. “It wasn't nice getting mad at you. sweetheart, daddy is sorry.'’ I held her close, “Next time, be careful, okay?. Don't run up to someone if they're carrying something. You might accidentally knock it over."
- Avala nods her head while her face was still pressed against my chest. "I'll always be careful, Daddy.”
- I had to hold her longer than I wanted, irrespective of the embarrassment she caused earlier for myself and Tricia, I still love her, and will continue to love and cherish my baby more than anything in this entire world. I heard movements at my back like two plates are clicking together, turning around I was met with a smiling Tricia, who is setting the food on the table for us.
- How did she know that Avala and I loved vegetables?.
- Tricia smiled at us, "I hope you both like it.'’
- The sight of the food made me want to dig in immediately, I hope the food will be delicious, the face of the food looks enticing so I don't expect less. "I'm sure we will, thank you.'’
- Avala dug into her plate immediately I set her down on her seat. "Yummy!" she exclaimed, after taking the first spoon into her mouth.
- Tricia left us to go and attend to other customers, when I finished the meal I was satisfied. Really, It was amazing, without wasting time I brought out more money, adding it to the one I had already offered her. When Tricia came to clear the plate, I handed her the money and thanked her for the meal.
- "Thank you, Tricia, the meal was delicious.'’
- Tricia smiled and took the money from me without delay. “You're welcome, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it."
- Avala tugged on Tricia's hand as we made our way to leave, “Mommy, will you come to our house?"
- Tricia smiled and reduced herself to Avala's level. “Yes, I will. Sweetheart, I'll make sure I come and visit you soon, okay?.'’
- Tricia is only trying to be polite to the kid, I know for sure that she must be praying in her heart for us to leave so she can finally be relieved from our troubles. My instincts tells me she's just trying to make Avala happy.
