Chapter 3

  • I was at Justin’s penthouse, standing at the door unsure if to knock or not. I had walked under the rain and it did well to hide the tears marks on my face.
  • Finally I knocked and shortly after, he opened the door.
  • “Olivia?” he called as he looked at me from head down with a surprise etched on his face. “You are soaked.” He noticed.
  • He was not wearing a shirt, leaving his chest and abs exposed. Was he not cold?
  • “I am sorry, I didn’t know where else to go.” I said with muffled sobs.
  • “What happened? Come inside.” He immediately urged me, stepping aside.
  • I walked in completely drenched. He rushed and got me a blanket, placing it over my shoulder from behind while I stood there gushing water on his tiles.
  • “What happened Olivia?” he asked again, he was calm and gentle, his voice soothing.
  • I sniffled, wiping the tears off my eyes. “I had a fight with my mom, it was bad, I had to leave.” I confessed.
  • “Oh,” he whispered. “Are you alright?” he asked kindly.
  • “No!” I broke down in tears again. “No I am not alright, Justin. I don’t know why my mom hates me, she found out that I didn’t go for the date she arranged with the medical doctor and she was angry, she began yelling at me again. Didn’t she say she would cancel the date if I got a job? Why is she so mean to me?” I rambled in a spiral of emotions.
  • “I am so sorry, Olivia. Your mom loves you; she just has a strange way of showing it.”
  • “I don’t think so, am I even her child? She is desperate to have me out of the house, what did I ever do wrong, Justin?” I sobbed.
  • He immediately pulled me to his chest, hugging me closely. “Please don’t cry, Olivia. You are just going to fall sick.” He pleaded.
  • I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down my face. “Why do I deserve all this? I have done everything she wanted till now, she sent me so far away to study and even though it was against my wish, I still did it to please her.”
  • “I understand…” he tried to console me.
  • “So what more must I do to please her? Marry a stranger? Work at places I do not find fitting?”
  • Justin wiped the tears off my face with his thumb as he kept trying to console me. I kept rambling on in tears, I was so weak emotionally, I felt hurt and my cramps worsened the pain.
  • All of a sudden, Justin pressed his lips against mine and I froze, my tears ceasing for a hot second. He gently parted our lips, those burning gray eyes staring into my soul.
  • He didn’t look at me like a father would look at his daughter, he stared at me like a man would stare at a woman.
  • That was all the cue I needed, I didn’t care about the consequences anymore, I quickly kissed him back, my lips crashing hungrily on his as my hands made their way to his face, caressing him.
  • Justin didn’t hesitate, he claimed my lips in a passionate kiss that ignited heat all over my body. His lips tasted like dark coffee and cigarettes, it helped me relax.
  • It was not lustful, it was rather consoling, relaxing. The kiss lasted for over two minutes and then he slowly ended it, my heart beating gently with my lips apart, the taste of his lingering on mine.
  • I couldn’t look him in the eyes, but somehow I didn’t feel scared or insecure about what just happened, it was like he had a sort of charm on his lips that calmed me.
  • He gently pulled me to lay my head on his chest. “It is alright, you should change into something dry and get some rest, I will sleep on the couch.” He said softly.
  • I nodded and gently pulled away from him, it was like my cramps were gone as well. how could just a single touch from him have this much effect on me?
  • I quickly changed into his clothes and went to lie on his bed, it was warm and cozy under his blanket. As I lay down, I touched my lips, trying to remember what it felt like kissing him. I couldn’t describe the feeling, but it was a splendid one.
  • A little smile crept up my lips and the thought of him was in my mind till I fell asleep.
  • I woke up very early the next morning feeling better. Justin was still asleep on the couch, I wasn’t sure I was ready to face him, so I found a note and a pen and wrote him a note stating that I would see him at the office.
  • I quietly changed back into my clothes which were now dry and I left his house. I had a feeling he might have seen me leaving.
  • When I got into the elevator, I took out my phone and luckily it was still working. I had received a text message from mom.
  • “Where are you?”
  • “Of course, such a caring mother,” I muttered in sarcasm and rolled my eyes.
