Chapter 36 The Crooked Village
- Their carriage was making a squeaky sound as it climbed down the hill that led to the village. The loud squeaky sound was an evidence of the quiet village. If Steven hadn’t been so sure of the tobacco scent he perceived from afar, they would have thought that the village was abandoned. They wheeled in through the gate of the village that had an overhead board with a bold cross drawn on it with blood.
- “That’s a chicken blood by the way” Steven joked easing the tension that brewed between Selene and Eirene. They both just want to run far away from that village as their first instinct because everything about it screamed danger.
- Every house and tent they passed by was dark without a light or proof of people living in it. They rode for a while and finally heaved a sigh of relief when they finally saw an old house with just one light illuminating from its windows.
