Chapter 99 7Six O'clock

• The faint mechanical sound grew louder. Somewhere deep in the building, systems were coming back online. Roman’s arms stayed around Tessa, but both of them could feel the night ending.
• “That’s the reset starting,” he said quietly. “We’ve got maybe twenty minutes before the locks open.”
• Tessa didn’t move. Her head stayed on his chest. She could still feel the heat of his skin and the slow beat of his heart. “I don’t want to get up yet.”
