Chapter 20 4 Midnight Visit

• It was past midnight when Elena heard the soft click of her bedroom door opening. The room was dark except for the moonlight coming through the large windows. She had been lying awake, her body still aching from the intense examination earlier that day.
• Dr. Marcus Vale stepped inside wearing only dark silk pajama bottoms. His muscular chest was bare. He closed the door behind him and locked it.
• “I shouldn’t be here,” he said, his voice low and rough. “You’re my patient. This is completely unethical.”
