- "Say what now?" I chuckled.
- "Ayuh. He had known that she loved classic, feminine-sounding names like Ambrose. She had named Pete without consulting him, because he had wanted to name Pete 'Slater.' Filled out the forms before he'd even had a say. So he chose the most vindictive name he could think of for a girl." Her eyebrows leapt up to her hairline. "Klaus is not exactly a classic for a girl. My whole life's a fuck-you to my mom if you think about it."
- "Incredible levels of pettiness." I drove right into the green Carnegie Hill residential complex of the daycare. "My mom at one point forgot to come pick me up from the hospital."
