Chapter 34 In Pain

• A pounding headache wakes Eloise from a dead sleep, and she crawls out of bed feeling lightheaded. She goes to the kitchen, where Anna has a stash of Advil in her cabinet above the stove.
• She drinks three and two glasses of water, then sinks into a chair, propping her head on her hands. A movement to her left brings her fully alert.
• “Well, if it isn’t Eloise Lautner, case number 22571,” Yohan mutters, leaning against the wall and holding a beer. She immediately gets the impression it isn’t his first.
