Chapter 32 A Date

• Rose and Miguel arrived at the restaurant and took a seat by the window. The place was calm, soft music playing in the background, couples chatting quietly. Miguel adjusted his shirt, straightened his collar, and then placed their orders without even asking Rose what she wanted. She noticed it, but said nothing.
• “So..." Miguel said, leaning back slightly." why did you insist I plan a date for us? Anything special I’m forgetting!” Miguel leaned forward, his voice bright but his brow pinched up a little ...he was clearly racking his brain, eyes darting as he counted off dates in his head.
• Rose’s smile faded fast, her shoulders slumping just a little as she stared down at the white tablecloth, tracing little circles with her finger. “What? So… you can’t take me out on a date unless something special comes up? I’m disappointed in you.” Her voice came out quieter than she meant it to, and there was a tightness in her throat that made her want to look away.
