Chapter 30 Late

• Pearl had been standing outside the big glass doors of the lecture hall for what felt like forever, her eyes glued to the hallway that led from the admin bloc, .her back resting lightly on the wall, her arms folded across her chest. Students walked past her in twos and threes, laughing, talking, rushing to beat the time. She checked her wristwatch again and sighed quietly.
• Rose was late.
• Pearl hated waiting, especially when she made the effort to come early. The morning sun was already beating down hard on her shoulders, but she didn’t mind she just wanted her best friend to show up already.
