  • Sarah walked down the hill feeling safe. He didn't care about the curious looks he aroused in everyone. She knew she was recognized, as she hadn't changed much over the years. She kept her hair at the same shoulder length and still kept it loose. He hadn't gained weight, nor had he lost weight. And his face was still the same.
  • When he reached the big house, he stopped and took a deep breath. He smelled freshly brewed coffee. He entered and headed to the dining room. Julia was the first to notice his presence, knocking over the cup of coffee she had in her hand, it shattering on the wooden floor, splitting into large pieces. And so everyone observed the presence of the former resident in the room.
  • "I'm back, family!" announced the youngest daughter, looking at John Mackerson defiantly.
