• I couldn’t quite explain what I was doing here, lying on her small bed that barely had enough space for the both of us. I knew I should have been in my own apartment, but the thought of going back and facing my mother was unbearable. Her presence reminded me of things I’d rather forget—memories that gnawed at me. So I left, with no clear destination in mind. I could have gone to my penthouse or booked a room somewhere, but somehow, my feet led me to Olivia’s apartment, and I had no idea why.
