Chapter 13 Call For Backup

  • Keiran's loud voice and commotion drew the attention of many residents in the slum. When they saw Keiran's and his men's fierce and menacing demeanor, no one dared approach and join the fray.
  • "My throat's about to give out from shouting! That bitch still had the nerve to hide at her house. Tony, grab some of the boys, smash her door open, and drag her out!
  • "And that punk from yesterday? Bring him out, too. Cripple his legs as a lesson!"
  • Frustrated by the lack of response from the apartment, Keiran's anger flared. He ordered Tony to use force.
  • Nelson interrupted, "My family is not at home. If you have any issues, you can bring them up to me."
  • Nelson had already stepped in front of the group. He blocked Tony and his gang from going upstairs.
  • Thinking about it, Nelson knew his family would be back soon from their hospital trip to visit Bob. To avoid worrying them, he needed to handle this mob swiftly before they came home.
  • "Mr. Ingram, this guy is Thea's brother. He's the one who fought us yesterday. His actions led to Tony's arrest at the farmer's market!
  • "But he's been brave enough to show up in this situation. This time, we brought a lot of men with us. We can't let him off easily!"
  • Tony was filled with fury upon seeing Nelson. He remembered how Nelson had bested him yesterday. He was determined to reclaim his pride with the dozen men he brought along.
  • "Oh! So, you're Thea's brother?"
  • Keiran's interest piqued. He glanced at Nelson and spoke with an air of superiority. "You've got some nerve to take on the Tiger Clan!
  • "I'll give you a chance. Kneel and apologize to me. And maybe, just maybe, I'll spare your life for Thea's sake."
  • Keiran was clearly the leader. Nelson asked, "Who are you?"
  • With a smug smile, Keiran responded, "I bet you'll piss yourself off if I tell you. I'm Keiran Ingram, a direct descendant of the Ingrams from Cloudhaven. Your family owes us a massive debt. When are you going to repay it?"
  • "How about this? Do as I say. Let your sister spend a day with me, and I'll consider it partial repayment."
  • Realizing this man was from the Ingrams, Nelson's anger boiled over. He shouted in rage, "My family has no grudge against yours! Why would you set us up?"
  • Keiran sneered in disdain and said, "Do I need a reason to dislike your family? My family is one of the top families in Cloudhaven. Crushing your loved ones is as straightforward as squashing an ant. Did I need a reason to mess up with you?
  • "Now, before I lose my temper, you should disable your own legs and ask your sister to come downstairs. Otherwise, I'll make sure your family suffers!"
  • Tony added with a cold smile, "Kid, don't you understand his words? Do what Mr. Ingram says, or we'll make you suffer even more when my boys strike."
  • Nelson flexed his fists and gazed at the dozen men Tony had brought. He challenged, "Enough talk. Come at me all at once. Don't waste my time!"
  • "You chose the harsh way over the soft way! Guys, get him! Show him no mercy!"
  • Since Nelson still had the nerve to act so arrogantly, Jabez was enraged. He pulled out a baton and led a charge, with more than a dozen men swarming towards Nelson.
  • "Jabez, take it easy. Don't kill him. Just make sure he can still breathe."
  • Keiran watched the show from the sidelines. He lit a cigarette and commanded Jabez as he took in the spectacle.
  • "Arghh! Arghh!"
  • Anguished screams filled the air, but they soon gave way to an eerie silence.
  • Keiran enjoyed the show with a smug expression that quickly twisted into one of horror. Even the cigarette in his mouth fell to the ground in shock.
  • In the middle of the chaos, Jabez and the dozen or so men who had charged at Nelson were now sprawled on the ground and groaning in pain. Not a single one of them could stand.
  • In less than a minute, Nelson had taken down all of the Tiger Clan's enforcers. Keiran saw this firsthand and was too shocked to speak. He had never seen anyone fight like this. It seemed they had underestimated their opponent this time.
  • Nelson shook off the blood from his hands and fixed his cold gaze on Keiran. Then he walked towards him, step by step.
  • "You ... What are you trying to do? I warn you! Don't act recklessly! I'm from the Ingrams. Your entire family will perish if you touch a single hair on my head.
  • Keiran made a stern threat; his pride prevented him from fleeing.
  • Nelson walked up to Keiran. He bent down and picked up the cigarette that had fallen from Keiran's mouth. Without any hesitation, he forcefully pried open Keiran's mouth and shoved the burning cigarette butt straight in.
  • Ignoring Keiran's screams, Nelson's voice, which was devoid of any emotion, echoed coldly in Keiran's ear. "Before I decide to kill someone, please take your people and get lost!"
  • With that, he kicked Keiran to the ground.
  • Nelson had gone through the trial of blood and fire in the army. He had killed countless heinous villains. For a moment, he truly wanted to kill these scoundrels before he ended it all.
  • Keiran wailed a few more times before spitting out the cigarette butt from his mouth, blood dripping from the burn inside. His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at Nelson, a few tears of humiliation rolling down his cheeks.
  • He had never suffered such a loss. The pain was secondary; it was the disgrace that hurt the most. As a scion of a prominent family, his pride was everything. Right now, he wanted nothing more than to strangle Nelson with his own hands.
  • "You bastard, if you've got what it takes, you better kill me now, or I will come back and haunt you down!" Keiran roared.
  • "Jabez, are you dead? Hurry up and call the Tiger Clan. Tell them that I sent you, and gather a few truckloads of people for this mission. I want this kid chopped into pieces today. No one can save him today!" Keiran shouted.
  • The look in his eyes was full of venom. He shouted at Jabez, who was still lying on the ground.
  • Just as Jabez struggled to get up and pulled out his phone to call for reinforcements, a Rolls-Royce Phantom drove straight up and stopped nearby.
  • The car door opened. A pair of elegant legs stepped out, followed by Audrey, who was wearing a casual outfit, her cold and beautiful aura evident. She was stunned by the scene before her.
  • "Nelson, what's going on? Are you in trouble?"
  • Alfred worriedly asked when he got out of the car, quickly coming to Nelson's side after his initial shock.
  • "It was just a group of scumbags causing trouble. I took care of it. Nothing to worry about," Nelson replied nonchalantly.
  • "Why are you here? Did anything happen to John?"
  • Nelson glanced at Audrey, who had come in person, and asked curiously.
  • "So, you took them all down by yourself? You're really good at this!"
  • Audrey's eyes lit up with a hint of admiration when she realized this.
  • "Trained in the army for a few years," Nelson said calmly.
  • Nelson said it indifferently.
  • "Audrey, what brings you here?"
  • Keiran was a scion of the Ingrams who had been mingling in the upper circles for a long time. Obviously, he was acquainted with Audrey. A hint of shock and a hint of fear flickered in his eyes.
  • As a notorious womanizer, Keiran had pursued the beautiful and unparalleled Audrey in the past. After failing to win her over, he had even resorted to drugging her.
  • The act was disgusting and ultimately unsuccessful. Audrey had used her family's power to catch him and severely punish him. If it weren't for his family's protection, he would have been castrated. Since then, he has had a natural fear of Audrey.
  • "It's you!"
  • Audrey also noticed Keiran, and her eyes were filled with intense disgust.
  • She had a pretty good idea of what had happened. Keiran must have brought people to trouble Nelson but ended up getting beaten up.
  • Aubrey had to admit that Nelson had done a great job!
  • "Take your men and get out. And let me warn you, Nelson is under my protection. If you dare trouble him again, I won't let you off." Audrey spoke icily to Keiran.
  • Audrey spoke icily to Keiran.
  • Nelson had saved her grandfather's life, and seeing him in trouble, she naturally wanted to help.
  • Who is the person you need to protect?
  • Anger and confusion twisted Keiran's face. He still hadn't regained his composure from the earlier beating, and he couldn't understand why a wealthy girl like Audrey would be involved with someone like Nelson.
  • "I told you to go away! Or did the lesson I taught you last time not sink in?"
  • Audrey's eyes flashed with a cold, murderous intent.
  • "Alright, alright! I'm leaving!"
  • Keiran didn't dare defy her. The fear she instilled in him was too deep.
  • With Audrey protecting Nelson, Keiran had no choice but to retreat for now.
  • Nelson watched as Keiran and his men got into their cars and left. He turned to Audrey and asked, "So, what brings you to my place?"
  • Audrey handed him a check for 1.5 million dollars and forcibly shoved it into his hands. He said, "This is yours. You deserve it."
  • At that moment, Keiran hadn't driven far. He saw the scene through the rearview mirror. Jealousy flared in his eyes.
  • "Damn it! Audrey Morales, who would've thought you'd stoop so low and keep a boy toy? No wonder you stood up for him!"
  • Keiran muttered bitterly.
  • When Aubrey gave him a check, he assumed Nelson was just a kept man when Aubrey gave him a check. He couldn't fathom why such luck hadn't befallen him.
