The current odds on the betting board were 10-to-1 for Nelson to win, and 2-to-1 for Hank to win. These odds were fixed and wouldn't change no matter how much money was placed!
This was the clever part of Fernando's behind-the-scenes manipulation. He deliberately set such a huge gap between the two odds to exploit gamblers' mentality of risking a little to win big, pushing them to bet heavily on Nelson.
That way, when Nelson died at Hank's hands, the Tiger Clan would rake in a fortune! On top of all the pre-fight hype built around Nelson, the bets on Nelson winning were ten times higher than those on Hank.
