Chapter 16 Identity Revealed

  • "Didn't you hear me? I told you to throw this troublemaker out! My uncle is the director here. Do you guys want to keep your jobs or not?"
  • Warren shouted furiously when the security guards hesitated.
  • He only wanted to see Nelson thrown out. The top leader's inspection visit had nothing to do with him.
  • The security guards were stunned. They didn't expect Warren to have such connections. They dared not ignore him and swiftly rushed over, prepared to deal with Nelson.
  • However, the top leader's car was already outside. Nigel Welch, the director of the Department of Commerce, accompanied Marvin Newman, the top leader. The guards knew they had to handle this situation quickly before the top leader came in.
  • "Kid, you picked the wrong time to cause trouble. Are you trying to make things difficult for our department?"
  • "Hey, this man's uncle is the director. Didn't you hear him? If you know what's good for you, leave on your own, or we'll have to force you out."
  • The security guards approached Nelson and started berating him without listening to their story. They rolled up their sleeves and were ready to take action.
  • Outside, Nigel stepped out of the Audi. He hurriedly ran to the other side and opened the door for Malvin. With great respect, he greeted a stern-faced middle-aged man who stepped out of the car.
  • This middle-aged man was the respected leader of Cloudhaven. According to rumors, he was a former military officer who had taken on this leadership role.
  • A few years ago, Marvin was assigned to Cloudhaven as the top leader. Since he took office, Marvin has managed the city's affairs and public services with meticulous care and authority. He was known as a decisive and influential figure.
  • Today, Marvin unexpectedly decided to inspect the Department of Commerce personally. As the director, Nigel had to accompany him.
  • "Director Welch, there have been complaints from the public about poor service attitudes and allegations of favoritism within your department. I've taken time out of my busy schedule to personally inspect. Let's see if these claims are true."
  • Marvin declared it with a commanding presence as he stepped out of the car.
  • Nigel's heart leaped into his throat, and he quickly replied.
  • "Mr. Newman, there is no such issue. This must be a malicious attempt to tarnish the reputation of my department. Under my leadership, our staff has always been approachable and impartial. I can vouch for that!"
  • "Is that so? Let's hope I won't be disappointed," Marvin replied coldly.
  • Accompanied by several staff members, he headed towards the entrance of the Department of Commerce.
  • Wiping the cold sweat from his brow, Nigel hurried to keep up, flattering Marvin as he went. He said, "Mr. Newman, I heard you were the commanding officer of the Stormfront Division in the Adra war zone before you took office. Your division produced one of our youngest and most distinguished combat general for our country. You must have met him!"
  • "Indeed, coming from such a heroic unit, you naturally possess that heroic spirit. In just a few short years, you've managed Cloudhaven with remarkable efficiency. The higher-ups' decision to appoint you here was undoubtedly the wisest choice!"
  • Nigel finished his praise with a thumbs-up.
  • Marvin stopped and lost in thought for a moment with his remark.
  • Indeed, before coming to Cloudhaven, he had been the commanding officer of the Stormfront Division at the Adra frontier. However, the division wasn't primarily a combat unit. Instead, its nearly ten thousand members were dedicated to supporting one of Cruosia's most elite special forces units.
  • This elite unit was known as the Spearhead Unit. It comprised fewer than ten members, each was an ultimate soldier.
  • Their captain, codenamed Drakon, was a young man who had enlisted less than three years before. Despite his youth, Drakon led the Spearhead Unit through numerous almost impossible missions.
  • He personally led the operation that dismantled the Shadow Order, the largest hostile organization outside Cruosia.
  • After this feat, Drakon and the Spearhead Unit's reputation soared to unprecedented heights within all branches of Cruosia's military. They were considered a strategic asset on par with nuclear weapons, striking fear into the hearts of numerous enemies of the nations!
  • Based on these achievements, Drakon was exceptionally promoted to combat general by the military. He became the fastest-promoted and youngest general in Cruosia's history, with various military publications eager to cover his story.
  • Yet, just before his promotion, Drakon quietly submitted his resignation and vanished, causing a stir throughout the military.
  • The Chief Commander of the Adra War Zone, General Pope, was relentlessly searching for Drakon. Two years had passed, he refused to give up.
  • When Nigel mentioned the matter, Marvin immediately thought of Drakon. This young man was the pride of Cruosia's military and a hero Marvin deeply admired.
  • He had met Drakon in person, but the reason for Drakon's retirement was a military secret. He didn't know the details, but he was certain there was more to the story.
  • After regaining his composure, Marvin glared at Nigel. He snapped, "Military secrets aren't something you should be prying into!"
  • With that, he led his team straight into the building.
  • Nigel was drenched in sweat as he hurriedly caught up with them. He thought his attempt to curry favor with Marvin had backfired.
  • At that moment, in the lobby of the Department of Commerce, several security guards were writhing in pain on the floor. Just as Marvin walked in and saw the scene, his face turned pale with anger. He immediately turned his gaze to Nigel, who had just followed him in.
  • "What on earth is going on? Is this the usual chaos in your department?"
  • Nigel nearly collapsed on the ground in fear. Of all days for such a scene, it had to be when his superior was inspecting the office. Who was the one that had the nerve to cause trouble here and even beat up the security?
  • "Uncle Nigel, thank goodness you're here! This guy was causing trouble. When the security guards tried to remove him, he started beating them up. Look at the mess he's made!"
  • Warren eagerly pointed at Nelson and began complaining when his distant uncle had arrived.
  • Earlier, under Warren's instigation, several security guards attempted to remove Nelson. However, Nelson, being quite skilled, managed to take down all the guards.
  • Nelson had picked the wrong place to cause trouble. Now that Nigel had arrived, Warren was confident Nelson wouldn't escape unpunished after he hit people.
  • "Oh my! Mr. Marvin himself is here for an inspection! Nelson, you dare cause trouble here and hurt people? With Mr. Marvin witnessing this, you'll be locked behind the bar and rot in jail for sure! Kneel and apologize now!"
  • At this moment, Linette, who always pull a long face, recognized Marvin. She was shocked but couldn't help gloating as she scolded Nelson.
  • Warren and Sadie also noticed and recognized Marvin's position. They let out a sneer, as they were sure Nelson was done for since Marvin was known for his intolerance of disorder.
  • "Outrageous! No one causes trouble in my department! Quick! Call the police and have this man arrested and severely punished!"
  • Nigel glared at Nelson as if he wanted to devour him. Marvin had witnessed Nelson causing trouble here, a sight that would undoubtedly impact Nigel's career. He despised Nelson for this.
  • "Are you going to arrest me without knowing the full story? Is this how your leaders run the office? Don't you want to understand the reasons behind this?"
  • Nelson was furious. These officers and Warren were in cahoots, and their behavior was excessively oppressive.
  • At this moment, Marvin's gaze also fell on Nelson. As he recognized Nelson, his body began to tremble uncontrollably. His eyes showed excitement, shock, joy, and, above all, an overwhelming sense of disbelief.
  • He recognized Nelson as Drakon, the commander of the Spearhead Unit, the youngest war hero in Cruosia's military history, whom he had just been thinking about.
  • Never in his wildest dreams did Marvin imagine that the military legend, whom the veteran commander was still searching for, would appear before him in such a way.
  • "Drakon! Is it really you?"
  • Marvin couldn't help but ask, his voice trembling.
  • "It's you!"
  • Hearing the familiar code name, Nelson looked at Marvin in shock and quickly recognized him. After all, they had interacted quite a bit in the military.
  • Warren hadn't noticed the unusual exchange between Nelson and Marvin. He continued to sneer at Nelson, mocking him, "Nelson, you really have the guts to fight here and be seen by Mr. Marvin. You're done for!"
  • Warren then turned to Mayor Marvin with a sycophantic smile. He said, "Mr. Marvin, I'm Warren from the Hamptons of Cloudhaven. Just now, this man has caused trouble and hurt people here. Everyone saw it!"
  • "If you'd arrived a bit later, he might have beaten me too. For the sake of my family, please don't go easy on him. At least make him serve dozens of years in prison!"
  • Nigel was gnashing his teeth. He pointed at Nelson and cursed, "You little brat, causing trouble and still having the nerve to twist the truth! Kneel and surrender, or I'll make sure you can't stay in Cloudhaven!"
  • Slap! Slap!
  • Unable to bear it any longer, Marvin slapped both Warren and Marvin hard across the face. He yelled in anger, "He is my comrade and the man I respect the most. Let's see who dares to touch him."
