Chapter 11 Possessed

  • "Hehe, I'm Ulric Fuller, apprentice to the divine healer Dr. Hartnell. I've cured countless patients. Who are you, Nelson? You're just a mere charlatan, yet you dare to question my ability!"
  • "You just claimed that Old Mr. Morales's illness isn't simple. Fine, then explain your perspective. If you can't, stop babbling nonsense!" Ulric shouted at Nelson, his voice filled with contempt.
  • Roger and Audrey both glared at Nelson; their expressions indicating their wrath. Does this guy have a habit of cursing people?
  • "The true cause of Old Mr. Morales's illness is possession. If you recklessly use acupuncture, the evil energy in his body will backfire, and the consequences will be disastrous!" Nelson said gravely.
  • "Haha ... "
  • Nelson had barely finished his words when Ulric burst into laughter, almost choking. It was as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world.
  • He said mockingly, "Nelson, you're quite something. You even bring up possession! Maybe it's you who's possessed. Out of old schoolmates' camaraderie, should I get a holly priest to exorcise you?"
  • At this point, Roger and Audrey couldn't suppress their anger. Bringing up possession?! What other absurdities could Nelson come up with?
  • "Dad, you've heard this guy. He's nothing but a fraud! I can't believe we ever took him seriously," Roger said to John, firmly branding Nelson as a conman.
  • "Nelson, you must leave. I shouldn't have asked you to treat my grandfather. I hope you have some self-awareness and don't bother our family again," Audrey said to Nelson, her voice dripping with disdain.
  • "Dr. Ulric, please take over the treatment!"
  • John sighed deeply, clearly rejecting Nelson's diagnosis.
  • Disappointment seeped into his voice as he began to question whether his granddaughter and Nelson were a good match if this young man continued with such behaviour.
  • "Nelson, if I were you, I would be too ashamed to stay here now. Watch carefully as a real healer treats and revives a patient!"
  • Ulric sneered at Nelson before pulling out his silver needles. He quickly unbuttoned John's shirt and began placing the needles along his back.
  • "This is Dr. Hartnell's miraculous rejuvenation technique! Dr. Ulric, you've mastered it at such a young age. Unlike some people who only know how to spout nonsense," Roger praised, recognizing Ulric's acupuncture technique and feeling confident his father would recover.
  • Ulric's face showed a hint of pride at the compliment. He had only learned a few techniques from Dr. Hartnell, but they should be enough to cure Old Mr. Morales.
  • At this moment, he could almost see the 1.5 million dollars reward within his grasp!
  • The continuous ridicule from Roger and Ulric ignited Nelson's anger. If it weren't for his old friendship with John and Don, he would've left already. He couldn't stand this mistreatment but was committed to saving John.
  • He observed closely, knowing Ulric's treatment could end in disaster. He was ready to intervene at any moment.
  • Soon, Ulric finished his half-baked rejuvenation technique, nearly turning John's back into a pincushion.
  • After receiving the treatment, the elderly man was already tired and drenched in sweat.
  • However, John's complexion improved significantly. His previously pale face now had a healthy flush.
  • Dad, how do you feel? Roger asked eagerly as the treatment concluded.
  • "My body feels much lighter as if a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I can breathe more easily now," John said, astonished.
  • "Grandpa, your leg just moved!" At this time, Audrey, who was paying close attention to her grandfather, suddenly said in surprise.
  • "What? My legs moved? It seems they are!"
  • John noticed his once-paralyzed leg could move freely and bend. Tears of relief and joy streamed down his face.
  • "Dr. Ulric, your medical skills are extraordinary!" Roger exclaimed, his face lit up with joy, giving Ulric a thumbs-up.
  • "Haha, it's just basic technique, nothing worth mentioning!" Ulric responded with a smug grin, casting a taunting glance at Nelson.
  • However, Ulric's triumph was short-lived. Just as John seemed to improve, his face suddenly turned an alarming shade of black. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, which splattered across Ulric's face, and then collapsed heavily back into his chair, appearing as if he had had a stroke.
  • Moreover, his body seemed to have turned into a piece of ice, releasing a burst of chill, and he was barely breathing.
  • "Grandpa! What's happening? Please don't scare me! You were fine just now!" Audrey cried out in panic, her voice trembling with fear.
  • "You scoundr*l! Who sent you to harm my father? I'll make you pay!" Roger's demeanour changed instantly as he lunged at the terrified Ulric, landing a punch that knocked a tooth loose.
  • "Quick! Call an ambulance. We have to go to the hospital now!"
  • "If anything happens to my father, you'll pay with your life!"
  • Roger's expression was fierce, but he also knew that now was not the time to settle the account, so he hurriedly asked Alfred to contact the ambulance.
  • Nelson's calm voice cut through the chaos, "But the ambulance will take time, and by then, it might be too late. The evil energy will rebound. Even in the hospital, they won't be able to save him. Right now, I'm the only one who can help. It's your choice."
  • "Is my father being possessed? Alright, you can try. But if my father doesn't wake up, both you and Ulric will face the consequences."
  • Roger glanced at his father's rapidly blackening face, starting to believe the possession theory.
  • Knowing his father's condition was dire, Roger decided to take the risk. Nelson didn't waste any time. He swiftly uncovered John's chest and took out his mystical gold needles. Using his energy to guide the needles, he performed an ancient technique called the Eight Trigrams Evil Dispelling Needle. Thirteen golden needles were inserted into critical points on John's chest.
  • The moment Nelson finished, the evil energy in John's body began to dissipate as if ice melting in a blaze. The effect was immediate and remarkable. Once all the malevolent energy was expelled, Nelson removed the needles and stowed them away. John's complexion returned to normal, and he stood up from the chair, though weak and needing Nelson's support.
  • "Nelson, my young friend, I'll never forget your life-saving kindness. Please forgive my son's earlier harsh words. I apologize on their behalf."
  • John burst into tears. Just now, his evil spirits rebounded. His consciousness was awake. Naturally, he knew that Nelson had saved his life, and he had completely cured his hidden illness!
  • Thinking of the fact that Nelson had said that he was possessed before, he even began to question Nelson, and he felt extremely guilty in his heart.
  • "Is it really healed?" Roger was dumbfounded, unable to process the reality of his father's recovery. He had labelled Nelson a fraud but now stood corrected.
  • "Grandpa!"
  • Audrey cried tears of joy as she hugged John tightly. She looked at Nelson with newfound respect and gratitude, mixed with curiosity.
  • As for Ulric, he wished he could disappear on the spot, his earlier confidence shattered.
  • "Mr. John, you were never truly sick. The possession caused the evil energy to build up over time, leading to your deteriorating condition. I've removed the evil energy, but you'll need to take some tonics and exercise to regain your strength," Nelson explained.
  • Nelson continued, taking the walnuts from John's hands, "The real source of your ailment is these two walnuts you've been playing with. They are burial artefacts, carriers of the evil energy. Constantly keeping them close allowed the energy to invade your weakened body over time."
  • After saying that, Nelson crushed the walnuts, releasing two puffs of black smoke that quickly dissipated.
  • The room fell silent in awe.
